OK, I got my first speeding ticket in 10 years coming home from the DMB show last month. Then I got my second a week later on Shepherd going over the hill after the I-10 exit (it's a speed trap, watch out).

What are my options? How can I keep them both from showing up on my insurance? I can take defensive driving for one, but not for both of them because they were so close together. I've heard people talking about deferred adjudication, but never paid much attention because I never HAD to before.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You pay the ticket and if you don't get another one in a certain amount of time, it won't show up on your record.

That's right, Anti is the authority on Speeding tickets if I remember correctly.

Man, that's all I have to do? Can I mail it in or do I actually have to go to court?

I'm on deferred judication right now. YOu have to go to court. You post a bond for 200. 50 goes to court fees and 150 goes to the ticket. YOu are on a probationary period and if you do not get a ticket within that time your ticket is dismissed. You even qualify to get some of the 150 back depending on the judge's mood.

I'm pretty sure you'll still need to go to court. Also, I believe that the requirements for deferred adjudication varies from court to court. One time, I was on it and I had to pay a $100, plus take defensive driving. Another time, it was just pay the ticket. In both cases, I had to go a year without getting another ticket, or the original would go on my record.

The term and conditions will vary from judge to judge and is different for various charges. BiGGieStuFF may have to show up to courtn and pay certain thing that you wouldn't etc.

It does not only apply to tickets.

It is a specified amount of time that you have cannot have any type of legal trouble and the charge will NOT appear on your record.

If you were to get in trouble, you get punished for the trouble you are in AND the charges from when you received the deferred adjudication.

So in other words, if you just f**ked up once and you KNOW you will not get in trouble again, take it. If its something that you feel could happen again in the specified time, you stand to get in BIG trouble should you not do it.

I've been on it twice. Before I only had to pay court fees and then when I came back to court I had to pay 25 bucks which was much easier but it was a 6 month period. This time around it was only a 3 month period which was sweet but coughing up 200 sucked ass.
