I'm curious of how much significance us being Aldridge's FIRST meeting really holds. Weren't we Howard's first meeting? At the same time though, Anthony's first meeting was with the Bulls, so that didn't hold much value.

There is no downside in joining the Spurs. When the Duncan era is over, Buford will still be the best GM in sports
I am sorry for my last post. I do not have permission yet to post attachments. I do not know how to post pictures in here yet.
How do you know the Spurs will attract players to play there. They will have to go through the draft. They are a small market team and once the Duncan era is over, they will turn into us.
Probably true, but just because you're the best gm doesn't mean you automatically have the opportunities to contend. I think most of us consider Danny Ainge to be a very highly rated gm, but once he lost his top guys, it took a while to rebuild. I just don't see kawhi and aldridge as 2 options that can lead you to a title offensively.
Just catching up on this thread over the last hour, lol, but I find it bizarre that people are arguing that San Antonio is not the perfect fit for LMA. He'd have at least one or two years with the current cast, and then take over as the main man for the next three or so years (assuming health) with an always improving Kawhi, Pop, and one of the best scouting crews in the NBA to keep acquiring talent to play with him over those three or so years that he'd be the main piece. Sorry for that massive run on sentence. The one downfall is they'd almost certainly have to relinquish Danny Green who is crucial as their 3 and D guy.
How do you know that the Spurs will be able to get the players to contend after Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker retire. By the way, Pop is not young you know. He will most likely retire once the above players retire. LMA is a better fit here than the Spurs.
Yeah, I think Rockets > Spurs in terms of most chances to contend for a title if LMA signs a 5 year contract, and if winning (while on a max deal) is his priority, Houston has a pretty darn good argument. But yes, the Spurs are a very good and logical fit, just not "perfect" as described.
A hypothetical question: If Aldridge signs for 12 mill so we can keep Ariza and Dmo and go for a title this year, which i think is his main focus How much of a pay cut would Dwight have to take next year for us to resign Aldridge and sign Durant to two Max deals?
Don't get me wrong, we are a great fit too, but my opinion is that he'd rather be the main guy while still having a chance to win. San Antonio gives him that. In my scenario, it is contingent that Pop sticks around, but I think that he will if he gets another franchise player like LMA to help get him more rings and solidify him as possibly the best coach of all time.
I always thought that when July comes around and teams get their cap space that Detroit, stating they want the playoffs, might take Ariza and Dmo, send Stanley Johnson's rights (+ TJones and the expirings of Papa and Prigioni) to Portland....and Lamarcus Aldridge to us. But Detroit probably will claim they're committed to Stanley Johnson. Nice to dream.
The only reason Buford is considered so great is because Pops convinced his big 3 to take half of their market value. No way does he convince LMA and Kawhi to play for 10 million dollars.
Am I the only one who thinks this is a waste of time? Ariza brings a lot to the team on and off the court. Keep Ariza, sign Brew and Smooth. Convince Lull or Stuckey, and lets see what happens.
