I watched Harrell a lot in college and don't see how you came up with that conclusion.

He's more like a small ball 5. He has no range whatsoever.

So I love the site basketball-reference.com

And wanted to look up PF/F that have the following

    Height 6-8,6-9
    Greater/Equal than 5 Points / game
    Greater/Equal than 4 Total Rebounds / Game
    Greater/Equal than 1 Block / Game

    Morey has 1/2 those guys..
    Josh Smith + T-Jones.

And no it's not common to have undersized PF's do well. But Morey has an eye for them :)

    Linky!!!!!

He shot horribly at 3 last year, but he can hit a mid-range jump shot and has good form. "No range whatsoever" is Dorsey, not Harrell.

As far as I'm concerned Harrell shooting beyond 5 feet from the rim might as well be Joey Dorsey shooting.....or more applicably Kenneth Faried.

Hate the pick...won't be able to space the floor. He's Thomas Robinson 2.0

Harrell has an 8-11 standing reach, which puts him above guys like Kevin Love and Blake Griffin.

I don't like it simply because I don't see how he fits. I understood taking BPA guys when we were trying to rebuild after Yao. But I don't understand why we took him when we have two good defensive centers in Dwight and Capela, and why we drafted him when we already have a glut at the power forward spots (DMo, Smith, Jones, and possibly Dekker at spot minutes). He'll probably play in the DLeague for a year or two and develop- but IMO - our window is now. We could have drafted a euro stash guy, a guard (which we need) or tried to trade it for some veteran talent. I think Harrell has potential to be a solid role player a la Chuck Hayes or Terrence Jones- I just don't know if we need a player like that in the next few years.

TJones is a better creator off the dribble. He's got nice ball-handling skils for a big, much better than Harrell. But I believe Harrell can be a better PnR finisher in the NBA because of his superior finishing ability. TJones is a skillful finisher but Harrell is a powerhouse underneath.

Harrell had 97 dunks in 35 games last year!!! Sure that's against lesser competition, but the college game is also only 40 mins and with the 35 second shot clock makes for a more halfcourt based game. So 97 dunks in 35 games or a 2.77 DunkPG mark is mighty impressive even in the college game. He's a fantastic finisher.

He's also a better defender than TJones. I love how TJones came back and blocked a ton of shots. It was legitimately impressive and I do think TJ has the potential to be better on this end. But TJ lacks the strength of Harrell despite similar on-paper size measurements. Harrell is also the more natural defender and just has a better feel for that side of the game.

TJ can handle the rock and has range, but for the Rockets I think Harrell will add much needed nastiness to the interior.

TJ has 3pt range I should say. In terms of the mid-range, him and Harrell are about equal.

Harrell is a high motor, opportunistic player. Huge hops, tremendous wingspan, and completely tireless on the boards and in the paint on both ends of the floor. Has a decent spot up **** from 17' and in. His size is deceptive as he I s always around for a board on both ends even though he only measures just over 6'7". All effort and focused energy, but limited as to how far his range can grow, and needs to work on soft touch to add to his limited offensive arsenal. Great value pick in 2nd round as almost all had him rated as a top 15-20 player. Rockets did well to get him soooooooo late. Love the pick for Houston.

I like it, but not as much as the Dekker pick.

Has the name Blake Griffin been posted yet?

Because this guy just became the most capable Griffin defender on this team besides Dwight by a mile. Sure we figured something out when we put Dwight on Blake to slow him down, but we can't do that all the time or else we'll tire out and risk putting Dwight in foul trouble. Harrell, unlike TJones or Josh Smith, has the defensive ability to atleast make Griffin work imo. Blake is so damn strong but Harrell can make him work much harder than he's used to against most teams, and Harrell has the quickness to stay with Blake.

One thing is for sure...there is NO WAY this guy stays on the floor at the same time as Howard. Both dominate the paint but are nada everywhere else. Need floor spacers. Also...this guy will need a PnR point guard in the second unit in order to bring out his potential.

What the hell do you think Draymond Green is? He is a very undersized PF who makes his team better, like Harrell. Harrell is unproven and more limited on offense but an athlete and overachiever on both ends because of his effort and motor, just like Green. Your point is garbage, and your opinion even worse. Learn something before speaking...
