I have heard from a reliable, tho' not always fully plugged in, source in Toronto that the Raps and Rox are discussing Cat/MoT for AD.

Don't know if it is factual, but it is interesting.

Apparently the Raps are still very interestd in Mobley?

    Wow.

So JVG is serious about D, huh...even at the cost of two of our better scoring options.

I would never accept that trade!

Cuttino Mobley and Maurice Taylor for Antonio Davis and Morris Peterson...maybe.

Cuttino Mobley, Maurice Taylor, and Moochie Norris for Antonio Davis and Alvin Williams...maybe.

Or just Maurice Taylor and Moochie Norris for Antonio Davis. :) No Cat for you!

I agree with "verse" down below.....I want them to add Rafer Alston as well.

And if the contracts don't work....we can always have a 3rd team involved!

If JVG was serious about D....he would be keeping our best defender, THE CAT! :)

    What is MacBeth's opinion?

I really wish there was a way to keep Cuttino in all these trades. JVG has said many times that he wants to keep Cat. I might do it if they threw in someone else though.

Cat/MoT for Antonio Davis is a bad trade for us. How much better is Davis than Mo T? Is it that much more enough to warrant throwing in Mobley? I don't think so.

No way they do it for only AD. That would be a terrible trade for the Rockets. Throw in Mo Peterson and then maybe. Otherwise, there is no rhyme or reason for this trade to happen.

It seems to me, if there is any basis to truth to this, that it would make Cato more expendable.

    It's interesting. Is it real?

I don't mind trading Mobley, but we better get something of equal value for him. I want to end up with Vince Carter or Elton Brand or some kind of value in return. Antonio Davis is good, but not that good.

AD has...what, 3-4 more years at 12 +? Too many years. Otherwise, fine - he's good to play 3 and 4 in a useful way. I'd allow them to unload him if they take our trash like Taylor Cato and/or Moochie back.

If Cat's in the deal he should land us Williams/Mo Pete back or better.

    I could see

    Yao/AD
    AD /Grif
    Mo Pete/Boki/Rice
    Francis/Pike
    Williams

    Or

    Yao/AD
    AD/Grif
    Mo Pete/Rice/Boki
    Cat
    Francis

It's basically a 2 for one swap of our two overpaid guys for their 1 overpaid guy. They get scoring, we get interior toughness.
It puts all the scoring load on Francis and Yao. Just seems to tie our hands for the future. I'd rather have that good third option at the 3, still.

Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 41.7 minutes)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 20.6 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Antonio Davis (13.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 35.7 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -12.0 ppg, +0.6 rpg, and -1.4 apg.

Toronto trades: PF Antonio Davis (13.9 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 35.7 minutes)
Toronto receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (17.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 73 games)
PF Maurice Taylor (8.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg in 67 games)
Change in team outlook: +12.0 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and +1.4 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Houston and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The trade would work dollar wise but we lose scoring. I don't mind Antonio Davis but maybe they should trade Moochie instead.

the ONLY way i consider that trade is if toronto threw in next year's first round pick (bound to be a lotto pick). i'd also like for them to throw in rafer alston, so we won't have to see The Little Dribbler on the court next year.

Antonio Davis? Give me a break.

    #33. Antonio Davis
    Height: 6' 9"
    Weight: 230 lbs.
    Position: Power Forward
    College: Texas-El Paso
    Born: 31st December, 1969
    Experience: 10 Seasons

He's not even as big as Eddie Griffin. He's on the fast-track downslope of his career. And you guys want to give up not one but two guys in their primes for AD? Please, the Rocks would do almost as well getting the Dream back.

IMO, Mo Taylor will benefit immensely by the new coaching staff because they will push him and push him hard. We lose way too much scoring punch for a couple of extra rebounds per game. Please, go back to sleep and let the Rocket organization do the swapping.

So I see Cat's trade value is being placed somewhere between a bag of Cheetos and a can of beans once again.

I fully support CD, but if this trade were made, I would lose alot of faith in him.

Davis has to be in his mid 30s. How many good years does he have left? In fact, is what he has now enough to justify his salary??

I am putting money on Mobes being here to start the season.

Any Raptors fans, Toronto residents, or just people who know something about the team care to jump in? While I don't necessarily disagree that the trade is bad for Houston, I'm wondering if anyone with information, not just a gut reaction, has anything to contribute.

Personally, I wouldn't mind adding Davis to the roster. People have been screaming for Brian Grant; Davis is known to be tough, and is (or at least used to be) an offensive force in the post.
