I think it just depends on what someone else offers. I doubt he'd "choose" to leave over a few million over 3 years, but if it's $8 million? $10 million? Hard to say no.

This is wrong. If Smith signs for more than the minimum salary, Detroit reduces what they owe him by half of the difference. For example, if Smith signed for 4 million over the minimum, Detroit would pay him 2 million less, and Smith would get an extra 2 million.

That isn't correct. He earns a lower percentage of his money from Detroit, but the higher the contract he gets from another team, the more money he makes. It just is not a dollar for dollar increase.

As you said Dragic is Slovenia and Spain is so stacked Ibaka is often glued on the bench.
Hopefuly we'll get settled by the 3 first month of next season with Llull finally starting his NBA career.
So yes, I hope you'll be wrong :). But it seems to their games share some similarities bases on speed and passion. Guess we can just wait and see.

The problem with that lineup is it doesn't include the two draft picks in it. If you throw in Portis at back up PF and Pat Connaughton at backup SG, it starts to look a lot better.

this is a big if he comes to our team. he's got excellent size for a point, great footwork, and place good defense.

unlike Beverly, he attacks the basket from either side and has an excellent FG percentage inside the line (about 50% from field). his 3 will need to improve a little bit but he will have one of the best percentages because of open shots.

I like how Sergio doesn't ball hog and can distribute the ball effectively, better than harden and doesn't feel the need to score a lot of points despite his ability to take over if he wants.

we need a point that can set plays for our bigs, drain some high percentage shots, take the load from harden, play defense and Sergio fits the bill way more than what we had currently (terry/bev/prig)

Sergio also plays the 2 so james can sit and we bring in another point. there's a reason why the morey went to Europe to talk to him and Mcahale has also talked publicly wanting Llull.

Unless the Rockets drop renounce every free agent on the team all they have is there MLE which is 5.6 million with 4.5% raises that they can offer over 4 years.

The most the Rockets could offer in a three year deal would be 17.6 million.

If the Rockets offer Llull a 4 year contract then they could give him 23.96 million over the life of the contract.

We know what Morey is going to do. You just have to know where to look.

If Sergio's buyout after the season is 5 million euros, then the MLE won't get him here. 5 million euro is $5.65 million. MLE starts at $5.464 million. Add the $650,000 that the Rox can give Llull to help with his buyout and subtract that $5.65 buyout and that leaves Llull with a net of $464,000. And he's got to pay taxes on $5.464 million.

So, if the buyout after the season is 5 million euros (the great unknown) then Morey has no choice but to go under the cap to get him here. Llull's not going to come over here and pay money out of his pocket to play basketball for even one season.

Maybe the Rockets look at it this way

Llull takes the MLE and Rockets resign Brewer, KJ likely leaves.
    OR
Llull takes cap space, Rockets renounce Brewer, use cap space on KJ McDaniels.

They'll never match that contract for him. They have to worry about buying the next Bale for €100,000,000.
