The kings just traded Clark for some picks in order to re-sign jim jackson......Can we also trade Rice now in order to have Posey back?
Will Jazz take Rice? I don't think the chance is good. Other than Jazz, probably we cannot trade Rice for future picks. Even if we trade away Rice and get some money, I'd rather Rox spend it on more worthy players than Posey. I am convinced we have seen the best of Posey and he is going south from now on. Also, he's ruined the mood within the organization. His staying won't be pleasant to either party after what has happened.
The problem is that Clark actually has some trade value; the Jazz got something out of the trade. If we had done the same trade with the Jazz for Rice, they would get nothing out of the trade. We need to find a team where we can trade Rice and filler for a smaller contract. With a smaller contract, we can then sign Posey. How about Rice and Taylor for Brian Grant? That would give us a banger in the PF position, and it would allow us to sign Posey.
Even if he goes "south" from where he is at now, he would still be better than any of the SF's in the FA market as well as on this team. His defense is based more on his speed and quickness than on his "talent." For the next couple of years, he should only get better defensivly (especially with a coach like JVG.)
Do you think Utah or Miami would take Rice, if we gave up our first round pick next summer, plus $3 million, in exchange for a conditional #2 pick? Also, I think New York is paying part of Rice's contract, as part of the deal for us to take him the the Shandon trade. Is Posey worth more than a player will get next summer, which, say, the number 20 pick in the draft?
I don't know about that. If they weren't rebuilding, I think they would've gone for locked up talent IMO. Clark will walk in a year, I don't doubt that for a second.
Tell me DR, what are the odds that Clark will resign with Utah after this coming season?? (edit: even Sane agrees with me on this ) Also, please explain to me how a core of Kirilenko, Harping and Clark makes Utah a playoff contender?? None of these players are franchise quality players and none of them are going to prevent Utah from being in the lottery (lottery teams usually rebuild in order to get back into the playoffs).
Miami being Glen Rice's off-season home, I'd say the Heat might take him, but only if they miss out on Odom this year.
