From Detroit's side of things, this makes sense as they are jammed up at the post position with Wallace, Milicik, Robinson, Williamson, Campbell, Okur and Rebraca. Rice's contract helps their cap situation, although they really don't have a place for him to play alot of minutes. In the end, I think they can get something more than Rice in return for those two guys.

From our side, does not make alot of sense. Robinson has 3 years left, not 2 (he is getting into the bad half of 30) and Williamson has 4 years left, not 3. This would leave us with 4 PFs and we would be paying 3 of those guys more than $15 + mil total each of the next 3 seasons. Overall, this trade compounds two of our bigger problems: Salary cap/luxury tax issues and high priced backups.

Kind of one-sided, as Detroit would be losing out in every stat category, but I wouldn't mind it

i never understood why people take the time to make up trade scenarios that are never going to happen...

because it is fun to dreamcast. You know you do, you just don't talk about it. Your driving home for work, wondering about what could help make this team better and you ponder over a trade that would never happen.

Guess what, GM's do this to. They call other teams every day to inquire about players they know won't be traded for the off chance they are wrong.

This is a pretty good analysis. I've heard that they may be trying to move Cliff Robinson. To make it a little more cheery from the Rockets side, Corliss Williamson does seem like a pefect JVG player - a Lary Johnson/Charles Oakley type. Making the move would require trading someone else.
