Curry is better than LeBron at outside shooting. LeBron is better at literally everything else. Is that not true?
Curry is better at winning a championship when he has the opportunity. Klay Thompson was literally terrible most of the playoffs. Green, Iggy, Bogut are all decent players, but they aren't stars. Hell, the clippers had better players top to bottom than the warriors. Hell, you aren't going to tell me that okc doesn't have a better team. Nether has won a championship. So yeah, despite the hate curry gets, whatever IT is , he has it.
So there's absolutely no in-between between "stars" & "decent players'? I hate the horse mouth ******* as much as anyone & I still wouldn't call him a "decent player". Iggy just won the finals MVP? & Bogut shut down Gasol & Dwight. Not to mention Livingston absolutely owned off the bench all playoffs. Lastly, I don't recall Jordan losing his finals MVP to Toni Kukoc.
I agree with the sentiment that Curry is the next Jordan in terms of being the guy the kids want to be like - even the ones who don't really follow basketball but like Steph(SOFs?). I hate to say it, but I think if we are being real we can acknowledge that his runaway popularity in the last year(it started way before they were considered favorites to win the title) is because Curry is very palatable to the suburban/middle class crowd. The kids who's mom drives them to baseball/soccer games on the weekends love Curry. He is a very good player no doubt, but it's the wholesome image that is not threatening to umm - suburban folk that has made him the runaway success. He's not covered in tattoos, he looks like he might actually be a real statefarm agent, he didn't come from the streets, etc. I would argue guys like John Wall, Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving are just as entertaining as Steph but let's just say it - white kids prefer Curry because they find him more relatable. Most of us here are basketball fans but Curry's overwhelming popularity is because the people who aren't normally basketball fans at all are tuning in to watch Curry(similar to Jordan). So the question is what is it that makes him more attractive to that type of fan than let's say Wall/Westbrook/Irving?
No he won't. He will put up great numbers on a very good Warriors team. He will also be obsessed over to a nauseating degree once again and then more threads like this where he is compared to Jordan will pop up.
Curry will encourage more young nba future players to improve there 3pt shot and do it with a quicker release. But I don't see the Curry being a global icon as Lebron or Kobe Bryant has been in the past 15 years.....let alone Michael Jordan who until this day is still arguably the most recognised athlete world wide
