Terrence Jones before the rib injury was Blake Griffin equivalent. Why is everyone acting like they didn't know her was injured during the playoffs? I've never had a collapsed lung but I've had broken ribs before and I wasn't playing basketball. The fact that he was out on the floor that close to the injury that serious is remarkable. Trading Jones would be a mistake

I know it is sexist, but it is kind of an appropriate typo when describing his playoff performances!!

I do agree though - the guy is far better than the one man circle jerk makes him out to be. He has the value that he currently has, playing him next season will in no way decrease that value.
If someone offers us a good PG and wants Jones, jump all over it. Otherwise lets wait and see what else is on the table as the season progresses (and whether or not he reverts to his 'full beast mode' prior to the rib injury).

That's literally the only point I've tried to make. Apparently that makes you NOT a Rockets fan because you are a Jones Only Fan.

    Mr. Clutch,

You don't win anything by beating up on the Timberwolves and Knicks of the NBA. When you parse Terrence's numbers out against playoff teams, they are consistently DOWN. He was arguable the worst or second worst big playing in these playoffs. He cannot finish at a great rate when he goes amongst the real trees in the NBA. All he can do is feast on little bigs like Carl Landry.

If you don't see it with all the data you've been presented with already and you don't see it when you actually watch the games, then just keep looking at gross stats and coming to erroneous conclusions.

I thought TJones played fine in the first two rounds. Not great, but not bad either.

He was awful in the WCF though.

It's looking likely we'll trade him this summer but he will probably end up being a decent player in this league for awhile.

Meh a lot of players have a bad playoffs and many do worse. Look at klay Thompson.

He's still a useful role player

What I saw was a lot of missed opportunities and tentativeness. More importantly he couldn't defend worth a lick on defense. Aldridge took him to the back of the woodshed last year and Blake was doing the same this year until we made the series saving Sub to bench him. Against what seemed like s favorable matchup against the Warriors he was pretty worthless as well.

He's not athletic or quick enough like Smith offensively or defensively. And he's not crafty or long like DMo.

He's the odd man out. I say this as a Portland native who wants to see Jones succeed. IMO he's not he answer at PF whether it's as a starter or backup.

This is an accurate assessment and a great post on the subject.

Not the answer? What is the question?

We had 3 PFs last year and needed all of them. There doesn't have to be an odd man out.

We did NOT have all 3 PFs at any point in time. Unless it was for a very short time. Jones missed s lot of time with injuries in the beginning, we didn't get Smith until the 2nd part of the season and missed Dmo down the stretch.

Jones is not good enough to be a starter. He's not worthy of being a backup unless we have a STUD PF and he's too good to be a 3rd string PF. Thus he's not the answer

The question is who can we move to improve the guard position?

As I said Jones is the best answer to be moved. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

You don't know this. Maybe he won't, maybe he will. It's not like TJones hasn't outplayed DMo at times.

I don't mind trading Jones if it improves the team. It all depends on what we get in return. If we can get something back of value, then I'm all for it. I don't think we should make a trade just to make a trade. At the very least Jones gives us depth on the front line.

We don't know what's going to happen in the draft. We don't know what will happen with our free agents. We don't know how DMo will look after his back surgury. I don't see a need at this point to trade Jones ASAP.

And who says we are looking to move anyone?

Jones as our 3rd PF is a nice luxury, not a problem.

    Pre-injury Jones was a monster...

But now he's soft... may never have the full confidence he once had.

If we get a PG and the other team wants Jones... gotta make that move ASAP.

Does he still hold value in the eyes of other GMs after a poor Playoff performance?

This. DMO and his 5 minutes of career playoff time is the new Jeremy Lin hands downs lol. There are literally people in here that wouldn't trade DMO for Lamarcus Aldridge and that's no joke. DMOINSANITY lol
