    Try expanding memory on IE.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > go to Settings under Browser History.

See the amount of disk space used. Usually if it takes that long, something either pushed into your browser or your disk space used is not able to contain the amount you're keeping under your history. Lessen history saved or widen disk space used.

I do like other browsers more, but all the old arguments against IE as opposed to other browsers is not as significant as it use to be.

If you're using IE, then suck it up.

    Because you're on your own.

It's 2015 and Internet Explorer is still crap

I looked in my task manager and it was using 1.x GB of memory
I have run several Virus/Root kit scans and they come up clean

I am going to conclude . . . IE JUST SUCKS AND IS A RESOURCE HOG

If you think IE is bad with resources, try using Chrome. I use Chrome daily, and by late in the afternoon it's memory usage is 8GB or more.

With that said, IE is on it's last legs... Edge Browser is the future for Windows, and the future is bright my friends. The speed of Chrome, with extensions and no memory leaks.

Pretty much every browser sucks at this point. I am using chrome and I hate it, but the only thing I like about chrome is that it works okay with my logitech touchpad 650.

The internet is clearly moving faster than the browsers can keep up.

A lot of the problem is bad code on the web. Web developers generally don't know how to handle memory management, thus the reason they are web developers rather than app developers. Throw on GIF sites, and HTML5 video and plugins like Flash (which have memory leaks of their own), PDF readers, etc. and resource utilization adds up pretty quickly.

The problem with Chrome, is it leaves tabs open, even when you close them. Close Chrome completely and then go to task manager, and 10+ processes will still be running. You can tweak this down some with settings, but it only helps a scosche.

Those aren't tabs, they are your plugins I believe. But you are right, chrome is a resource monster.

That's also a general complaint of mine, that nobody seems to care about making clean code anymore. Windows is the same way. When a new version of windows comes out, it is pretty fast. 2 years later and when they get all of the updates attatched to it, it gets slower than christmas.

I have been using Vivaldi browser for a few months. It does everything I want Chrome to do, but better.

I pray Edge provides some ample competition for Chrome because the caching tech they use is completely inefficient.

Due tell... because the reviews have been solid (especially for a product in beta), and I've been using Edge on my Surface Pro 3 since it was launched and it is extremely fast, especially with JavaScript. The only reason I don't use it as my primary browser is because the extensions aren't there yet (like uBlock Origin and Reddit Enhancement Suite), but those will come.
