The rox need to make their big splash(Eric P)? right now while its quiet. Not a lot of big things have happened this week in the nba so now would be a good time for CD to make a move. We are lucky to still have a chance at some good free agents. How hard is it to sign these guys?

PG/SG = Kenny Anderson, Jon Barry, Raja Bell, Adrian Griffen, Steve Kerr, Mark Jackson

SF/PF = Darvin Ham, Samaki Walker, Kendall Gill, Lee Nailon, Derrick Coleman, Tyrone Hill, Jim Jackson, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Willis, Charles Oakley

Can someone explain why we aren't rushing to get these guys?

I'm not going to say that I wouldn't want any of those players in a Rockets uniform, but I think it's pretty clear that there isn't a single player on your list that would merit a "big splash."

Having said that, I'm a big fan of Jon B.

And having said that, you can only have so many average to slightly above average players on your team before it starts getting crowded.

It is not the size or sound of the splash that counts but the ripples made that truly matters.

btw, on nba.com it says the spurs, unfortunetly, resigned kevin willis. i thought he would have been a good backup and a way to trade cato for some backcourt help

I think the Rockets burned all their bridges with Willis after the 2002 season. Too bad, but it's good to see his success with the Spurs.

Realistically, though, he wouldn't have seen much playing time behind Yao and Cato, and he's got too much pride to accept that kind of a role.

FORTUNATELY, Willis was signed by SA, and Samaki Walker by Miami....

People keep saying Tyrone Hill would be good, but let me tell you now, he is a locker room virus! During his last few months with Cleveland, all he did was complain that the "youngsters" were getting "his" playing time, and that he was gonna demand a trade if things didn't change.

We do not want this guy if we're trying to build chemistry. As for that list, Kendall Gill might be ok I guess.

You must have missed his tenure with the Spurs. He averaged only 5 mpg in the playoffs.

Of your guard list, Jon Barry and Kenny Anderson are the only ones that interest me. Barry's about to ink a deal with Indy that would pay him $10mm over 4 years. Anderson would be a very nice backup PG.

Of the forwards you listed, we should look to fill our immediate need at the SF...I think we should target them in the following order...

    1) Jimmy Jackson
    2) Stephen Jackson (wants too much)
    3) Lee Nailon (could grow with our other young players)
    4) Darvin Ham
    5) Kendall Gill (undersized, old)

As for PFs, Charles Oakley or Derrick Coleman would be great...but could hinder/stifle the development of Eddie and MoT, if valuable minutes are taken away from them, and given to a guy that will be retired when we make our championship run in a couple years...

I'll admit i don't really like some of those guys, but my favorite are.....

    1) Stephen Jackson(Clutch shooter, average defender)

    2) Jim Jackson(good defender, would like JVG's system)

    3) Kenny Anderson(good starter in Boston, would do well as a backup)

He never demanded a trade and had every right to be upset over the situation. Cleveland decided to play their younger players to tank and get the best shot at Lebron. Hill along with many other players on the Cavs complained that this was happening and they had every right to be mad about it. He ended up getting released because...err I mean although he was the best pf on the team.

Lamar Odom? The last I heard both Miami and Denver were close to giving him a pretty large pay day. I think he'd be a great fit on this team, but I'm not sure we could work a sign and trade with the Clips.

Lamar Odom would be a "big splash," but seems unlikely. I am still hopeful for a major move. Les didn't get rich by being stupid. I really don't believe that he is going to take the current team into the new stadium in the new uniforms. Given the almost certain fact that Francis and JVG will be in major conflict before the All Star game, the unthinkable should be considered. Ship Francis and his big contract out of Houston! OH HAPPY DAY!!!! In exchange for three solid team players and build around Ming. My Dream come true. (Probably won't happen but a wonderful thought!!!!) I feel better just thinking about.

You feel better by thinking about trading Francis? Why is it a "certain fact" that Francis and JVG will not get along? A team that trades a superstar for lesser talent always losses out in the long run. I just dont understand the logic of trading a star for a bunch of scrubs. Usually fans come up with scenarios that involve scrubs from their team and try to trade them for superstars. This is the first time I've heard of a fan having it the other way around.

If your "dream" is to trade Francis then you need some serious help.
