    I'm starting to feel like a host on one of those lame reality tv shows. But here goes:

    The Toyota Center needs a nickname, and we've almost settled on one. The results from the first poll showed "The Garage" and "The Showroom" as the two clear favorites. The results were neck and neck.

    We've finished the election primary. It's time for the showdown. If you had to choose between these two--with no other options--which would it be?

    I like "The Showroom", but I still think it's too early to christen a nick. Maybe there's an interesting physical structure or some other distinguishing feature that we don't know abt yet, that will translate into a cool nickname.

    You know how Ohio State has the "U"? Like that...

    Showroom. It's classier and flashier, and gives just as many opportunities for lame puns and metaphors as 'garage.' It's where we put on a show. It's where we have the showdown. It's like Showtime, except it's in Houston. Opponents come to the showroom and get owned.

    Isn't the GM place already called the garage?

    garage!!! showroom is for a preppy, showtime team (not rockets, a team like kings or mavs) the garage is a team that will battle and fight and opponents dont wanna go in there, there is no fear in the showroom, opponents want to go there.

    I like the Dome Light.

    quaky, but makes me laugh, from an architectural standpoint.

    That stadium design looks like a push button nightlight that God would reach down from the sky to push.

    We're anything but a gritty hard nosed basketball team. In fact, our franchise history has not had hard nosed basketball... Houston just isn't like that. We're more casual and laid back. And also, someone wrote that The Garage has already been used as a nickname in detroit or something so I dont think its a good option. The Showroom baby!

    the showroom: since we are not really putting up a show so far - i found it a bit silly to take this name. Opponents will laugh at us - "uuuhhh we are going to the showroom, beware of the rockets demi-gods"............nah

    the garage: it's understatement

    Things that need repair go to the garage. Do you want to hear that about the Rockets? So maybe it's a good description, but hopefully JVG can change that.

    I'm all for "The Showroom". It's all about something new, something that you want to 'show' off.

    How about the "Backseat"? Everyone has had fun there at least once in their life. JUst kidding I see no wned for a nickname but this thread goes to show you how slow our off season has been.

    and when the car shows in town, people don't go down to the showroom to look at Toyotas (at least I don't)

    I don't know why Garage is even an option.

    We're not taking a name that's already taken. THE GARAGE IS TAKEN BY ANOTHER FRANCHISE.

    Do you seriously not care about that fact? I find it so funny that people are neglecting it..
