I didn't see anything on this yet so figured I'd post. Champs Sports prior to game 5 posted to twitter that Golden State is the real Clutch City. Pretty unprofessional of a company that has stores in every mall in this city if you ask me. https://twitter.com/champssports/status/603719996666204160
Weak pandering to the biggest group of bandwagon fans since the Lakers were relevant. It took me a minute to remember what Champs was. I never liked that store anyway.
OMG some of the people on this site are so thin skinned and emotional. Who gives a flying **** what other people say or do?? Boo Hoo they said my team wasnt clutch and theirs was, Im taking my ball and going home.
This. Just a sensitive fan base. Zach Lowe was right. ESPN does not the Rockets, NBC Sports does not hate the Rockets, Champs Sports does not hate the Rockets, Hubie Brown does not hate the Rockets, the refs do not hate the Rockets. Can we grow some thicker skin? All this whining and so-called "disrespect". You don't like it, don't watch ESPN! Don't visit NBCSports.com! Don't buy gear from Champs Sports! Mute Hubie Brown!
Ummm...yep, I am actually. They can go screw themselves. But like somebody said - I guess I'll just continue to not ever shop there.
Houston has been dubbed Clutch City for 20 years. When a national retailer with several stores in your city comes out pre game and says xyz team will win and xyz city is more deserving of the moniker you're city has been waving for the past 20 years... that just doesn't sit well with me. I could care less about fans trolling or even perceived slanted media views. Everyone has an opinion but as a professional and upstanding business they should be above that. Congratulate the winner, promote the finals match up, but stay above choosing a side and trash talking. I'd equate this to Nike sending out a tweet today stating Kyrie and Bron are the read splash brothers and stating that Cavs will win in 4. Nike wouldn't be stupid enough to do this would they?
Grantland is pretty open in not liking the Rockets... this from today: "Let me be clear when I say this: I don’t care very much for the Rockets." Same writer from a few weeks ago -- "Coming into the postseason, I didn’t want Harden to play well; I wanted him to play GREAT. Then I could root against him, root for his unraveling, and maybe, God willing, even sports-hate him, which is my very favorite thing."
They had a store that went out of business here back in 2001. I remember the employees letting random customers walk out the door without paying for their gear.
So you should return your gear from Champs Not because they called golden state clutch city Because you were dumb enough to over pay for the same shoes you could get somewhere else for less
You kidding me, Champs back in the day was notorious for deals. They are now owned by East Bay who also owns Foot Locker. But yeah I remember back in the good old late 90s before the turn of the century, where my dad and me copped sneakers that came with multiple others for free or discounted to over 90% off. I'm surprised East Bay didn't change the Chump's, I mean Champ's logo when they bought them out.
