Why not? It's a huge reason sports are fun. My brain wouldn't have picked the Rockets versus the Clips, especially down 3-1. My brain definitely doesn't pick them against the W's. But to hear all the locals here in the Bay Area already celebrating their waltz to the finals... it does get you thinking about overconfidence on the one side, and a hungry, more experienced bunch on the other.
It's great to root for your team but to say your team will win the series especially against the best team in the NBA is very homerish. Of course I will root for the Rockets and will bleed red for them. But I won't predict they will win. I will just root for them to win and surprise.
stranger things have happened, this warrior team has never made it this deep into the playoffs. if we play like we have nothing to lose, we might take it
If this is 5 on 5 series, we are going to need to hit on all cylinders to have a chance. The good news is that the Rockets seem to be getting better each game and the role playerrs are getting more confident. Bottom line: shots need to fall and turnovers need to be minimized. No more lazy pocket passes, please. If this is an 8 on 5 series (and I think it will be), we are probably toast. The narrative all season is that Curry is the MVP (not true IMO) and the Warriors are head and shoulders the best team in the league (very true). I just get the feeling that its an unspoken understanding within the NBA that the Warriors are the team that they want to advance.
Everyone predicted the Spurs to win the wcf in 1995. And they swept us in the regular season that year.

So you just expect everyone in the world to predict GS to win? how stupid is that lol ......Being underdogs doesn't mean ppl can't choose the rockets to win the series, stop being ignorant!! We can baby, pound them inside every min of every quarter , they don't have the muscle for dwight josh, tones and harden driving...Proud of this no quit team, always underestimated, mission isn't complete
Definitely overconfident - people here openly rooting for Houston over the Clippers thinking it's going to be a cakewalk. By the way, cheapest tickets I saw for Game 1 were for $283 in the upper level baseline. Ouch.
You ignored my comment, can you read? No I am not saying Rockets fans should say the Warriors will win the series. But not also get cocky and say the Rockets will win. These Warriors are the best team in the NBA that won 67 games and have RED HOT Stephen Curry. This is going to be difficult to get cocky and say "Rockets in 6". That is so stupid and very homer. Don't predict the series, but ROOT for your team.
Holy crap. That might actually make for a slightly quieter crowd. White-wine-sipping, cell-phone-checking, early-leavin' pretty boys. Or I hope so.
SO, my numbers on JT in this series were incorrect? How about for the playoffs? Anyway, it appears that you are using the regular season as your methodology of predicting outcomes. That's fine, but remember, a regular season game doesn't have NEARLY the same amount of match-up preparation, but more importantly, you're not acknowledging home court "disadvantage" in these playoff series. Please, look at how many teams stole a game at their opponent's house. And yes, Dallas was competitive. If we didn't win game by a jumper, that would have been a 2-2 series going back to Houston. We literally won game 3 with a jumper. Dallas was competitive, and I can't debate with someone who doesn't realize that ANY team with DIRK and MONTA is still competitive. We couldn't stop either of them. At all. We just outscored them. The Clippers did not get tired. The Rockets started making shots and stopped turning the ball over. Please don't tell me that Blake/DJ , at their young age, were tired against Dwight. I coach young guns. They can play whole games without a problem. How about the notion of "rust"? Do you acknowledge the possibility that the Warriors have been off long enough to not be ready to go to war quite yet? I'm predicting the Rockets win game 1 because of that. And, because of one mismatch that YOU and I both know the Warriors can't stop: Dwight/ Josh If they double James, we've already seen him facilitate well almost like TMac did. Josh Smith hasn't even been used right yet, and when McHale puts him in the post, there's no one long enough on YOUR team to guard him or Dwight. Bogut is a standstill. He is all bulk and elbows. Not concerned. Shoot, I'm mostly concerned about Klay, but TAriza will make it his goal to stop that boy. I believe he will. Klay dealt with Tony Allen, but he's not nearly the on-the-ball defender as Ariza. Ariza has been snubbed off defensive lists his whole career. Anyway, we'll see how it goes, but it's not like the Rockets were the eighth seed. They were second. That doesn't allude to a sweep or domination in my book, and I've seen it all. Rockets in 6.
Cowered? Scared? Chicken little? (are you like 15?) I see..so listing the opponents strengths and weaknesses and pointing facts and strategies is "mailing it in" as fan? Yes and? Please point me at ONE single post I have made in this thread that is affected by my Bucks co-fandom. One. I at least sticked around and supported the team when many "real fans" gave up and called for their heads. Since when fruitful objective analysis and conversation means being an undercover Rocket hater??? You must rewatch the series. The Warriors blew them out with BOTH Allen and Conley healthy (well depending how healthy you think a guy like Conley really was). In fact pulling out Allen from the game , after the adjustment to put Bogut on him, helped the Grizzlies. Btw Allen + Conley is one if not THE best defensive backcourt in the league.
Yes your previous posts give the impression that you are afraid of the Warriors and that they are unbeatable or insurmountable. I hardly share that point of view. I actually feel a lot better against the Warriors than I did when the Rockets had to face the Clippers in Round 2. The Clippers just had the weapons to give our positions of strength serious issues. That is not the case with this upcoming matchup. Harden and Howard are 2 rounds stronger now and the team just has a strong will...you can feel it/see it. By the way, what "weaknesses" did you point out about the Warriors exactly? All I saw were posts of you gushing about how great and mighty the warriors are. So yeah, I'm calling you and every other fan out who fears the Warriors cowards/Chicken Littles. There's a difference between "fear" and "respect". I respect the Warriors as I do the Clippers and Mavs and every other opponent the Rockets have to face. I don't fear any team and neither should the Rockets...especially now.
I'll give you Allen. You can take that Conley idea elsewhere. Mike is a great decision-maker. He's not on the same level as Allen,Ariza, Thabo, Kawhi, etc... Also, it seems like you don' take the Grizzlies injuries into account. That team has been hobbled all year. Quite frankly, the Warriors have had the easiest path to the WCF. Pelicans, Grizzlies. The Rockets beat the team that was victorious against the SPURS. The Spurs. The Rockets have flaws, but they are beautifully unpredictable. You never know when James is going to get hot, or when Dwight is going to dominate the paint along with his brother in JSmoov. The Warriors are getting a series. Love it.
per @kpelton. I thought this was really interesting. With one exception, teams with this large a point differential advantage as the Warriors have over us have clobbered the competition.
Conley is a PG. You are comparing him with SG and SF. He is one of the best defensive PG in the league. Unless your backcourt consists of two defensive SGs..Allen + Conley are near top at their position in defensive => best defensive backcourt. Name me one that has better defense.
The only one to overcome the odds was...Houston. It's also a bad metric to use in my opinion because the point differential for the Rockets is so skewed by the fact that Dwight missed such a HUGE chunk of the year. I really don't know what to expect between the Rockets and Warriors. I could see the Warriors blowing us off the court and I could see us going 7.
One other thing, this is the third ever most lop-sided conference finals in terms of point differential.
I guess we should be scared now. In fact, what's the point of watching the series. These "indicators" are the "Cliffnotes" to the series outcome right?
