yes there is , there are lots of former rockets who participate in charity work. but you use a player's charity work as a diversion because you are getting obliterated in a basketball debate knowing that the other person has facts you can not deny. chenjy9 is whipping you like he was indiana jones
What im saying is some people take his negatives too far and discredit him as player. It is undeniable that Tmac was a top 5 player in his prime as a rocket. And he showed he had heart countless times, so idk where people get that from. It is also undeniable that Tmac elevated his game in the playoffs, and that he made his teammates better. I remember they compared Tmac's stats to the Top 5 playoff performers in NBA history (yes no team success but basketball is a team sport). Now I love Harden, but to put it into perspective it is also undeniable that for 3 straight years hes under performed in the playoffs compared to the regular season. So really all im saying (and im not saying its you doing it - but in general), dont diminish his merits as a player for an ugly breakup. And for what its worth, all the reasons you stated for disliking Tmac can be looked from many different views. Its not so black and white. I dont really wanna go into each point cuz these arguments have been had, but you have to look at all those cases from both views (the franchise and tmacs) and not just one. Tmac was going through a lot at that time. His body was failing him and he must have been incredibly frustrated witnessing his decline when he should have been in his peak. Idk just my 2 cents...
He uses the truth - historical basketball facts as his weapon you try to divert the topic away from basketball like jar jar binks
According to you, but not according to those voting for MVP. He was NEVER A TOP 5 PLAYER with the Rockets, here are facts to prove it. In 2004-05 Tracy McGrady was #7 in MVP voting, Steve Nash was #1, Shaq #2 In 2005-06 Tracy McGrady didn't make the top 10, Steve Nash #1, Lebron #2 In 2006-07 Tracy McGrady was #6, Dirk #1, Steve Nash #2 In 2007-08 Tracy McGrady was #8, Kobe #1, Chris Paul #2 http://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/awards_2009.html In 2008-09 he didn't make the list, Yao was #12 , Lebron #1, Kobe #2
really, MVP votes is your criteria for evaluating players? Could you name any Rocket Fan in those days that would trade Tmac for anyone not named Kobe or Lebron? Because I cant.
IF this was a forum about about Philanthropy, then I would be praising him. This ISN'T however. It is a forum about the Houston Rockets and has no place for a gutless loser that quit on the team was was supposed to represent and then turned around and accused of holding him back to collect insurance money. I don't care when it comes to basketball how much of an angel or devil a player is, just how he plays for the Rockets.
Theres so much more involved in MVP voting than the individual quality of a player, like Team success... We were never higher than a 4/5 seed with Tmac. And by 2009 he regressed due to injury that in fact Yao was "the man" only in that year. So thats why he got MVP votes that year.
You being a tmac fan doesn't qualify you to say who's a top 5 player. You can't back it up with any numbers. Team success is what you get a top player for. Watch Harden, that's a true top 5 player.
Hey tinman the Rockets are playing right now, literally right now, why are you commenting on here?...
First: I wouldnt call myself a Tmac fan. I mean im a fan of Tmac, have fond memories of him when he was a Rocket, but im a Rockets fan first and foremost. And you dont get to declare who is or is not qualified to form an opinion. If anything, your biases are so strong they would actually unqualify you. 2nd: I can most definitely back it up with numbers. Go look at his playoff numbers. Im sure there still great even if you consider those **** years with atlanta and his cameo with the spurs. Even watered down by those years im sure there still great. Considering his prime years only they are elite stats. 3rd: Team success is important but nowhere near the complete picture. If you elevate your game and step up come playoff time, AND if you make your teammates better as well - then you are in the conversation for being a top player. And Tmac meets those requirements.
You mean like when McGrady played injured against Utah in the playoffs and put up 40 points in an elimination game without Yao? You're a joke.
