I really don't think they meant all-stars as that squad pretty much speaks for itself. I doubt Yao was trying either because I wouldn't in a summer in a game that doesn't mean jack. 4 blocks is good in any game though.

I'm pretty sure that's just a marketing thing. When Magic Johnson tried to go to Taiwan in 1995, they called his team "The Magic Johnson All-Stars", and they had a bunch of guys I never heard of, aside from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Magic didn't actually play because Taiwan wouldn't let him in because of HIV concerns.

    Livingston and Yao.

Yao has 20 points in today's game.

"China has beaten a touring American team two more times........

The American team is impressive, composed mostly of former NBA players and former Division I college players. Olden Polynice (213-F/C-64, college: Virginia) (213-F/C-64, college: Virginia), who is 39 but who had a long NBA career, is the most recognizable name. Leon Smith (211-F-80, agent: Pellerin Patrick) was a number one draft choice, and Byron Mouton (198-G/F-78, college: Maryland) played with Maryland's 2002 NCAA championship team. Randy Livingston (194-G-75, college: LSU) was once considered the equal of Jason Kidd, until knee injuries slowed him down.

    The American roster:
Livan Pyfrom (211-C-78, agent: Rudoy Herb, college: Creighton)
    Jerald Honeycutt (205-F/C-74, college: Tulane)

Leon Smith (211-F-80, agent: Pellerin Patrick)
Ivano Newbill (209-F-70, college: Georgia Tech)
    Kevin Simmons (204-F-75, college: UNLV)
    David Harrison (213-C-82)
    Antonio Lawrence (193-F-)
    Byron Mouton (198-G/F-78, college: Maryland)
    Jemeil Rich (175-G-75, college: SMU)
    Randy Livingston (194-G-75, college: LSU)
Olden Polynice (213-F/C-64, college: Virginia) (213-F/C-64, college: Virginia)
    Galen Young (201-F/G-75, college: Charlotte)"

And as usual, that's not good shot selection by Mobley. I didn't know Cat was over there. ;)

Maybe it was his way of becoming an "all-star."

Yao looks much bigger in the upper body in this pic. Once he gets strong enough to create some space between him and the defender, his turn-around jump shot will be unstoppable just like Hakeem's.

It is Cat! And that must be our new home uni! Curious color scheme, but I guess it works. ;)

Notice his name on the back of his jersey is "Ming Yao"? Or is it "M. Yao"?

I hope they don't start blowing the whistle on Yao for wiping defenders off while doing his spin move next year.
