    Mr. Clutch,

Regardless of any other part of the welfare reform legislation with which I disagree, it punishes homeless children for their parents' behavior. It is on those grounds that I call it draconian.

I think you're damn right to fear Dean, by the way. And I think the Bush team fears him too. If they didn't, they wouldn't be pretending they wanted him to win. Did you see where he just outdid Cheney's fundraiser? Pretty good story. Here's the link:

I also think Kerry would give Bush a great run. His service record is all he's got on Dean though. For the sake of getting back on topic, anyone but Lieberman or Edwards getting the nomination is a serious blow to the DLC.

Hey, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm beginning to think that Madmax, is hoping to jump ship and vote for a Liebeman or conservative Democrat type.

I can't blame you Max, if you want to become a Democrat, but jump in with both feet.:)

glynch: Max voted Clinton in 92. And he's not a sheep like heath or Jorge. If Bush wants his vote again, he'll have to earn it. I wouldn't go so far as to suggest he's leaning in any particular direction but if a Democrat makes more sense to Max, I'm sure he'll vote that way. He's not an ideologue and he's displayed an uncanny ability to think for himself. Much more than can be said for some some of the other righties polluting the board the last couple days.

I guess I just see a lot more unity in a party that is really a fragile coalition of many disparate groups. I don't really watch Fox that much, even though I think some of their info-babes are mega-sexy!

I guess I will surrender the point that the DLC is centrist, but compared to what.....socialism? All of these labels on both parties...conservative, liberal, "new Democrat," "new tone," "compassionate conservativism" are just the political version of head fakes in b-ball. Either way, both parties have to moderate come election time the opposite way to attract the holy "undecideds" out there. As the former governor of Alabama George Wallace said, "There ain't a dimes difference between the Democrats and the Republicans."

Lastly...on a more personal note, I was born in Alabama, went to school there and now I reside in Georgia. Tex and I have worked out our differences and......believe it or not, even found some common ground. Now if that isn't proof that there is hope for the human race.....I don't know what is. :D Fellas, although I often disagree with you, I do enjoy our arguments here. And it is fun to interface with those who hold disparate viewpoints to my own.
