I cheerish all these moments. I'm just glad I get to stay up late and cheer for my hometown Rockets for ONE MORE GAME! And I'll take another please.
This video gets me irrationally pumped up. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9_PoLB8_cWw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Here's the thing that makes life so interesting: The Theory of Evolution claims that "only the strong shall survive." Maybe so, maybe so. But the Theory of Competition says "just because they're the strong doesn't mean they can't get their a***s kicked." That's right. See, what every long-shot, come-from-behind underdog will tell you is this: The other guy may in fact be the favorite; the odds may be stacked against you. Fair enough ... But what the odds don't know is this isn't a math test. This is a completely different kind of test. One where passion has a funny way of trumping logic. So before you step up to the starting line, before the whistle blows and the clock starts ticking, just remember: out here, the results don't always add up. No matter what the stats may say and the experts may think and the commentators may have predicted, when the race is on, all bets are off. Don't be surprised if someone decides to flip the script and take a pass on yelling "uncle". And then suddenly, as the old saying goes, "We got ourselves a game."
I couldn't have put this better myself. It has been 20 years since I have had so much fun watching Rocket basketball. Win or lose this team is a blast.
Cue Rocky Theme.......................Go Rockets ! REDNATION ! If Not Now then When ? If Not You then Who ? The Journey of a 1000 miles begins with One Step ! (plus a offensive foul on Blake Griffin early in the forth quarter sending him to the bench ) Grasshopper it is down to you. (Listen as this could be the LAST TIME this year we can evoke the imaging, get at it. All gifs are most welcome.
"Be here now" is also a repeated phrase in the chorus of Live's 'The Dam at Otter Creek'; it's what came to mind while reading the thread title.
The Rockets have exceeded everyone's expectations, battled thru injury to have the second best record in the west, division champs, and forcing a game 6 (and hopefully 7) in the second round. At the beginning of the year we were thought of as a first round exit 6-8 seed. This is the first year that we can be down in double digits going into the 4th quarter that I felt we could pull off every game. I cant say the same for many Rockets teams since the Dream has retired. The rockets have provided us with a very entertaining season plus atleast 11 extra playoff games. Judge the whole season, not a handful of bad games that couldn't have come at a worse time...
I don't know what to say really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble. Inch by inch play by play till we're finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen believe me and we can stay here and get the **** kicked out of us or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time.
Game 5 really cured my blues. I'm extremely pleased with the way our team played with their backs against the wall. They looked way more like the team I watched all season. So, regardless of what happens tonight, I am very appreciative of this season's basketball. Great ride.
Rockets fans unite! No more bickering. No more questioning of fanhood. The season is on the line. GO ROCKETS!!!
Especially the last part. We are no longer in perpetual mediocrity. We have a superstar in James, great player in Dwight and solid role players. We may not win it all this year but we're in position to get better. Things are looking up
I believe. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. We didn't get killed in games 3 and 4. we got embarrassed but not killed. Now to be stronger and take this to them in LA and bring it back home. Go ROCKETS!!!
This has been the best season in 20 years. Tonight, it could get even better. I have no complaints. GO ROCKETS!
