My wife just got a job with a new Donut shop here in Utah that's trying to compete with Krispee Kreme. (which absolutely dominates the market up here) Obviously, they don't have Shipley donuts here, which I think are infinitely better than Krispee Kreme, or even Duncan donuts or anything. The thing is, since it's a brand new place, they're still coming up with ideas and stuff for what to offer along with the donuts. They've already got muffin tops, which are pretty good, but I personally miss Kolaches more than anything else. It turns out that you can really only find them in Texas, due to the Czech roots that a lot of people have there. Do y'all like them? If you live outside of Texas and a place had them, would it be worth going there to get them? What kinds do you like? I personally like the ham & cheese the best, but I think most people get the regular sausage kind, or the sausage and cheese maybe. Just curious.
As it turns out, yes. For all I know the Seinfeld writers invented them, but you can definitely buy them at this place. (it's called Glazies)
What are kolaches and muffin tops? I live in Arkansas and technically we are three to fifty years behind the rest of the US when it comes to...anything I mean we just got Krispy Kremes up here and they're like $7 a dozen but good as f*ck. So what are these technological advances known as kolaches and muffin tops?
Mornings Kolache on Bay Area Blvd owns. Thats has to be the best damned Kolache in the Houston/Galveston area.
Kolaches - the demon to all Atkins dieters They are great Sausage and Chese I did not know it was a texas thing Rocket River
Dude, I'm so sorry, Kolache's are sausage or ham and cheese wrapped in a roll, sort of like a pig in the blanket, only larger and it is completely covered in the bread, and of course the cheese. Ham and cheese Kolaches are the bomb. Anyone ever had the Kolaches with eggs in them either from Southern Maid or Kolache Factory. Those are pretty good.
there is a donut shop by my house and they have jalepeno sausage and cheese kolaches they are so ****in good!!!
we have one of those in Baytown...they freaking RULE! I love the Ham and Swiss they have.. and there is a place in Channelview ran by some nice Chinese(I think) people..they make the old style kolaches with the outside positively soaked with butter... Sausage and Cheese...yum yum..
First, kolaches can be filled with fruit in the middle as well. Sometimes, they have cream cheese as well. Second, Kolache Factory has nothing on homemade German or Czech kolaches. There's a food mart called Hrushka's in Ellinger (on Highway 71 on the way to LaGrange and Austin). Hands down the best in the world! You have to get there pretty early or they sell out of everything.
