Without spewing the vitriol that we see on a nightly basis in the game threads or in countless useless threads on this board, can we actually talk about what the team needs to do to win Game 4. The first thing I think the coaches need to do is get Harden open for some good looks at 3 off of screens. LA took away the PnR by having the pick man defender roll with him to the hoop and bringing an extra big, e.g., Jordan into the paint to clog it up. Instead of rolling the pick man down into the lane they should be looking to shoot off of the screens rather than try to find a pass or lob to the pick man. If LA decides to switch on picks then you have a great mismatch for Harden, which is why they won't switch. I think you could really get Harden going by setting some screens for him where he can get some good looks. If he gets his jumpshot going then it possibly opens up the PnR more.
I'd probably say the biggest adjustment is McHale understanding what a timeout is, and how to stop momentum. 23-0 TWENTY THREE POINTS SCORED TO ZERO. NOT ONE THING DONE TO DISCOURAGE IT. Argh. I don't know why I care so much about this team when they obviously dont.
Jason Terry has to be replaced, but you gotta have that spark off the bench. I'd rather just start Prigs and bring in Brew first off the bench. Nick Johnson HAS to get minutes. It's ridiculous that he's riding pine while Jason Terry gets lit up on defense.
For real. How about calling enough timeouts to kill their momentum? Or better yet, hack-a-Jordan please!
Just Move the BALL Harden holding the ball for 10 seconds has not worked, Mchale do your job and tell them to Move the ball and Cut
This, close thread. didn't even attempt to hack Jordan to disrupt their momentum nothing was done to stop this nada.
Easy. Hack a Chris Paul. Double Deandre Jordan. Make sure to only call timeouts when Clippers go on a 10-0 run.
And another thing, when Jordan is dominating the glass like he was you need to start hacking him so Doc will pull him. The hack-a strategy isn't just about getting a bad free throw shooter out of the game. It's about killing momentum or forcing your opponent to make a decision. Why the hell doesn't McHale realize that it's a great strategy against the Clippers for all of those reasons. If it's good enough for Pop then you should think twice about why you're not doing it more. I would literally start hacking DJ ASAP in Game 4 to get him out of the game. You put in Joey Dorsey and you let him foul DJ until he has 6 fouls.
Limit turnovers, force rivers to go left, because he only can go right. Play better defense on the pick and roll..
Our shots need to start falling. It was just a joke watching open shots bricking and bricking every time. We all either start playing just insane defence and make it a very low scoring game or we need to change that starting lineup and start prigs, harden, brewer, tjones or ariza, then Howard and just run.
I really hope you are either joking or that you got your rights and lefts confused because Rivers went left pretty easily... https://youtu.be/KWUtZEE8XpE?t=10 https://youtu.be/KWUtZEE8XpE?t=65 https://youtu.be/KWUtZEE8XpE?t=111
What are these adjustments you speak of? Let's just keep allowing doc to double harden on those pick n rolls. It's the easiest way to double team a ball handler. Let's Just keep allowing our powerful power forwards to make great decisions off the roll. It's simple have harden setting the screens for the pg. if they decide to crash on the harden and leave the ball handler, at least it's still a guard with the ball in his hands instead Terrence ones and osh smith having a layup missing competition.
