Hopefully no one. Notice in my post the line that says, "Other shows I hate/can't stand/feel are overrated include:" Sorry, I realize it was a bit off topic. In a way though, if it's on tv and sucks, there has to be some following to it.
how about "60 Minutes?" or for mini-series...how about that pan and scan coffee table book about the Civil War.
Dang, what's with all the hate for King of the Hill, and from Texans no less? My favorite character on the show: Bobby Hill. One of the best "pre-teen" characters ever created, in my opinion. And why does everyone hate Frasier, too? The humor isn't sophomoric enough?
Why no love for M*A*S*H ? I have to rate that one of the best shows of all time! Overrated: Any 'reality' TV show. Friends. Malcom in the Middle. Urgh...can't stand those shows.
vj, I didn't mean that George (Jason Alexander) was a bad actor; I meant that in the last 2 seasons his character became highly annoying more so than the previous seasons. Personally, I think Alexander is a good actor, but I still stand by my feeling that Jerry Seinfeld is not a good actor. He is a comedian and he was playing himself, so it was not like he was playing the role of Hamlet or some Broadway show.
Manny, I agree with you about Jerry. He was not a good actor and was my least favorite character really (if you notice, on almost every show, he is cracking smiles trying not to laugh). I put alot of the bit characters like Peterman, Newman, the Constanzas and Puddy ahead of him. George's character is really over the top. Thats what makes the show. You just think that no one in real life can be that outrageous all the time. Same thing with Kramer. IMO, George and Kramer made that show. Without them, the show wouldn't have been nearly as good (you can replace Jerry and Elaine easy).
Family Guy AND Futurama. If fox had put these shows behind the Simpsons for more than a month at a time, they would have lasted on network TV. As it is, I have to enjoy the same 25 shows of each on Cartoon Network.
I dunno about that. They pushed so many buttons I'm surprised they were able to stay around as long as they did. Did you ever see the last episode (the unaired "when you wish upon a weinstein")??? I think that was what really did them in...every 2 seconds was a Catholic/Jew/race joke. Funny stuff, but not something that network television can get away with. Man, I miss that show. Thank goodness for Kazaa.
I watched 17 episodes of The Family Guy this weekend. I dreamed about the Griffins last night. I've also got Peter's laugh and Cleveland's voice down pretty good. "There's a partay over heeeere."
I see...that makes sense. IMO, the fact that George is so annoying and that crazy helps make the show. I'd say that hjs 'annoyingness' is the one most important character trait in the show. Jerry certainly isn't a Broadway-level actor, but I think he is good in his own right. Good enough to play himself, at the very least. Does anyone else start tearing up during the last episode when they play Green Day's "Good Riddance?"
I'd go with Seinfeld and the Cosby show. Plenty of other shows are just crap - but I know those two were pretty highly regarded, and I just don't understand it.
they were already on thin ice before they made Weinstein..that was just what put them over the top. they just flatout pissed too many people off...but, good things are in the works(hopefully) I read recently that one of the senior vice presidents at Cartoon Network was so impressed with the ratings for Adult Swim's first hour that they are talking to Seth MacFarlane about resurrecting Family Guy. story is here
You must have teh DVD, that show is one of my alltime favorites (check my sig), "heh, aaaaal riiight." Speaking of a good show that got canceled, there are only like 2 more new episodes of futurama left. Stupid Fox.
