Short arms definitely played a disadvantage for Pac. But guys like Marciano it can be an advantage since, he too has short arms. Yes, you predicted correctly. It's a part of boxing but a win is a win. I agree but financial wise, he is a winner! No action at all, just pin point precision and timing.
lol this crying reminds me of the lin and tebow fans.. i think they used to leave hateful/ racist messages too haha
mayweathers sytle makes fighters reluctant to throw punches, becaause they are afraid of being countered
not a surprising result though. manny hasn't knocked an opponent out in years. without that ability his puncher's chance at taking out mayweather went out the window. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=9729669&postcount=167
I am not a huge boxing fan and dont follow it closely, but what a snooze fest last night. Biggest waste of 100 dollars I've ever spent. If you looked at both fighers at the end of the fight, how can you honestly say anyone won? Neither fighter looked like they even got into a fight. I am not even talking about bloody eyes, nose, or lips. Nobody even had puffy eyes! Yes, going by the numbers, Mayweather won but half those punches were weak sauce. Mayweather may have kept his perfect record, but boxing lost last night. RIP boxing.
Its funny but I must be in the minority when I say I was very much so entertained. Mayweather's defense is awesome to watch. There was one point Manny was throwing a flurry of punches at Mayweather in the corner and Mayweather blocked all 6 punches, evaded and tagged him on the way out. Mayweather isn't trying to hurt you, he is trying to win. It was a nice strategic fight to watch. I think too many people expect Ward Gatti v2.0
I think a lot of people tuned in hoping to see a fight and instead they got a boxing match.....back when boxing was the closest to watching an actual fight, that was fine, but today no one wants to watch a boxing match. I think the UFC might be the biggest winner from last night.
No one that really knows boxing would have thought that Mayweather was going to lose, it was obvious that he was never going to fight aggressively and look to actually damage Manny and he has a reach advantage so it was always going to be a Mayweather decision type match.....and not one worth watching. That said, I don't think many people find his win impressive so in a lot of ways he's the loser as well.....a loser that just made a ton of cash so the fact that very few people respect him as a fighter probably doesn't matter that much to him.
This, his defense and movements are so amazing to watch and like art. Majority of people watch boxing for violence and knockouts, it just shows they don't really understand the sport itself and in its facettes. A comparison would be a random person watching basketball for dunks and screaming players, only the true Fan of the sport sees the complexity and appreciates more subtile things like movement. All the people saying Pac should've won, boxing died, Floyd just runs etc don't know jack about boxing and should honestly stop watching. Reducing it to knockouts and aimlessly punching into your opponent's defense is plain sad and shows how little you know.
Glad I only paid $20 . I knew nobody would get knocked out. I thought the sport was better when the heavyweights were good like Tyson.
Having offense is a part of boxing too? Like I said, the small reach and non-existing jab is what killed the fight for Pac. You get out-jabbed more than you land a power punch, you lose, simple.
It is easy to have great defense when Manny is literally bobbing his head in from of you. To me, Manny was bought. If Maidana can get through floyd's defense and he could and did get through it, Manny could as well. If never seen manny fight like he did against Floyd (you think he's worried about getting hit after the wars he went through with JMM?) I really think the public was hoodwinked in this fight. Many didn't come to fight, he came for a paycheck, plain and simple.
heard someone say mayweather is like the chelsea fc of boxing which made a lot of sense when i thought about it.
