Either of yall know the name of or know where to find Jammin-J's theme song, that song they play on 104.9 at 7:00 every weeknight before his shift? I've tried guessing the title on Kazaa but haven't found it yet.
Back when I was just a stupid kid (last week...er, back in the 80's) me and my friends used to prank call all the talk shows on KPFT. They didn't screen the calls and they didn't have a 7 second delay so it was open season for dumbasses like us. Jew Don Boney (Houston City Councilman) had a show on Sunday nights and he would get nothing but prank calls all night long. We weren't the only ones doing it. Good times...
stations like 94.5, 97.9 & 104.9 only play the same 6 songs over and over and over. stations like 92.9 (yeehaw) and 100.3 have more variety and play less commercials. besides, country music is superior anyway
ah Anti..you have good taste in music for a kid... I avoid the radio most of the time since I have a cd player in my car now.. but when I do...I go between 101, 93.7, 94.5, 106.9, and what is the frequency of that light jazz/r&b channel? 95.7? As you can tell, I dont hit it very often if I cant remember the channel..but when I need calming down..thats a good one.
I dont listen to 104 anymore either. Does anybody know if they still got that psycho Robbie dude on there? I used to listen to him on the way to school every morning about 10 years ago. He use to crack me up.
I listen mainly to 93.7 and 101.1. I like the classic rock stuff like Pink FLoyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Crosby stills, Ted nugent, Peter Frampton. Even though that music was before my time theres just something that just draws me into that 70's classic rock and the songs never get old.
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that all the radio stations are slowly changing their format just a tiny bit? I mean, 101.1 is playing a lot more current stuff than they used to. The Mix is almost all current pop. Even 107.5 (the oldies station) isn't playing true "oldies" anymore. It's a lot more rock from the 70's than it used to be. I guess they're just keeping up with the times. I don't have a favorite station. I flip through them all and stop on songs that I like.
Loved that station, while it lasted. I believe it only made it for like 6 months in 1998? I remember that the Buzz was making of it by saying that an astroid was hitting the planet and a bunch of people screaming in spainish running (102.9 is now a spainish station)was hilarious stuff cause that was the year that Deep Impact and Armageddon came out.
I don't live in Houston any more, but when I come to town, I like 93.7 with a little 101.1. Of course 610 gets my dial most of the time since I listen to CDs for music anyway. For those KPFT lovers out there, my band is playing tonight (Saturday) for the Watermelon Dance out at the Last Concert Cafe. It's a benefit for the radio station. They've been great to us so I hope that we can bring a good time. We don't go on until 1:00 a.m. so I'll get out there early to check out some of the other bands. Anyone else going to be out there?
KUHF, KTRU, and 610, easily. A group of students is trying to get UH to create a student-run station, which would be extremely
