Same here. It wasn't moving at the time, but I think that it is faster than the Viper, which I have actually ridden in.
Dr. of Dunk, No it is not street legal, but he still drives around the street in it. One time we were in his car and my friend who had a bmw 330ci wanted to race the supra so we did. Well, we gave the bmw 330 about a 100 ft head start and within a few second we were flying by the car. One of the scariest experience in my life. It was like we were driving 60 one sec. and in another we hit 140. Still remember it like it was yesterday.
I bought my Porsche 928 in 1996 in my last year in the Corps. She had a ton of problems, but through my hard work along with my buddies, a lot of beer and the auto hobby shop on the base, she became the coolest car in the Corps. Now she's turbocharged, dynoed at about 350 hp at the wheels, which translates to around 455 at the crank. The fastest I ever ran with the car was around 160 and that was in the Monitor/Merrimac Tunnel in Hampton Roads. She had more power, but I really didn't want to get a ticket (red Porsches attract cops like flies, especially with a Marine tag on the front, because the cops up there hate the military) and I admittedly got scared of going that fast. That's not my 928, but mine has the same wheels. She is a money pit and I often spend more time diagnosing problems (since it is a 17-year old car) than driving her. But it is worth it, even if my wife wants me to get rid of it.
Jesus... 800 at the wheels?! I know I've heard of a Ruf Porsche (I think) that had about 1000 horsepower. I think the Calloway Sledghammer Vette had about 800-1000 hp, too. I've ridden in one of the original Vipers and that was like sitting on thunder. I don't want to know what your father-in-law's viper must feel like. By the way, Hennessey Motorsports in Houston mods Vipers, and I know they have a package that runs 9's or 10's in the 1/4 and does 0-60 in about 2.4 seconds. That's a freakin' CAR doing 0-60 in 2.4. You may need to see a chiropractor after flooring that baby...
I've always thought there was something seriously wrong with someone who doesn't think a Viper has enough horsepower. I guess the now 500 hp out of the V-10 is just not enough. 800 hp is sick! I like the Lingenfelter Vettes as well. He builds a 427 that is seriously quick. Geez, how could I convince my wife to let me save up and get one?
Like DoD, I would have to say a Viper. HOwever, the one I was in wasn't entirely stock. It had a NIT kit. My client only got it up to 120 though when I was in it.
Yeah, actually, my father-in-law knows Hennessey. He did the original work on the Viper. On the other hand, as it turns out, Hennessey lied about the work he was going to do on the car. I think he was supposed to get it up to 650 or so, but instead he fell way short, and just acted like everything was okay. It was this big deal that almost ended it a big lawsuit cause obviously a lot of money was involved. Anyway, the end of the story is that he's got a new guy up in Maryland that got it up past 800. Now he's basically helping this guy build one of the best high performance shops in the world. Moral of the story: Hennessey is one big SOB.
Either my 2000 Camaro SS or my friend's 1998 Corvette.... Mine will hit 155 (governed), his will go to about 200mph I think. I had my 1999 Camaro SS up to 153 on I-45 South to Galveston.
Michael Schumacher's Ferrari when I went to Maranello to negotiate with Jean Todt. The fastest I have ever driven was 250 km/h which is about 155 mph. That was in some Mercedes (rental car) in Germany. I had to get to the airport fast.
2 wheels- 175+ mph ...the absolute fastest I have ever driven was on Grand Parkway at just over 200mph in a '97 Ruf CTR.
