The Indian food thread got me thinking. I like Indian food, but I LOVE Thai food. We have a friend who spent quite a bit of time in Holland and really got to appreciate Indonesian food. I've got another friend who's been to Indonesia, and he liked the food and described it as being influenced by both Indians and Thais.

I'd like to give it a try. b4-u-eat talks about two places in Houston...Bali Grill and Mata Hari. It looks like Mata Hari is hit or miss, and Bali Grill only has one review....albeit a good one.

Any suggestions? Does anyone have an experience with the food? Does anyone know of any other Indonesian restaurants in Houston? What should I order the first time? My wife and I are both suckers for any food that makes your eyes water and your nose run, so we'll probably want something spicy.

I had awesome Indonesian food in the Netherlands many times. It's often overlooked in the States, but it's great! I haven't a clue about where to get it in H-town, however. :(

Mata Hari is the only one I have been to...it is pretty decent and has always been considered the place for Indonesian.
