You're trying too hard to rationalize this. And you've also done your other favorite thing in this thread -- try too hard to try to find some hypocritical angle. Not a good look for you.

You're trying too hard to insert yourself into a discussion with no substance on your part. Come back when you have some.

This is a good post man.

I disagree with the idea that everyone who uses violences is wrong (because violent resistance is often needed to end violent repression), but, besides that, your analysis of the situation is probably the best in this thread.

Fair enough, but you seem to be pushing some of the exact same angles. Either way, rioting and looting only really hurts poor people so defending it as some kind of act against "the man" is pretty short sighted.....though violence usually is short sighted.

you can fault Marx for his solutions (or really his lack of solutions) but a century or so later, he was and still is pretty damn right about the problems--problems that will excaberate riots like this.

As I mentioned earlier, almost all major social revolutions start out with rioting and looting before moving onto insurrection, revolt and revolution. The idea that rioting and looting can't be part of a productive social movement is contradicted in the history of revolutions.

I think Marx was a simple minded economist and amateur philosopher. I can understand why some would support his populist message because when it gets down to it, everyone wants someone else to blame for their problems. That said, one should always be weary of a perpetually impoverished economist.

yeah, just like they should be weary of child labour.

Are you a professional economist to be making such an opinion? If you were, you'd be busy stringing together papers for scant grant money lol.

Dismissing Marx and any strain of thought that might align with him is all good and fun, but you'll be missing half of the story.

This isn't the beginning of any revolution though, there's not really a legitimate cause for one....this is just opportunists looking to profit and have a bit of fun using mostly faux rage as their excuse for it all.

    This isn't a political movement.

Dismissing Marx is what pretty much everyone should do. His economic theory has been thoroughly disproved in practice and his philosophy has failed to materialize. That's not to say that we shouldn't still study his ideas, after all we still study Hippocrates and Humorism despite knowing those ideas to be fundamentally flawed.
