I was looking at the Rockets roster and there is only 9 players under contract for next year. It is also becoming obvious that we are not going to use the entire exeption in fear more luxury tax. Here are a few free-agents who could help fill the roster and contribute equally. Dion Glover: for about 2 mil a year. He is an explosive slasher who get up and down the floor. His athleticism tends over match his skill but he has a solid mid-range shoot and rebounds well for his position. Eddie House: about a mil a year. Scores like a machine, in college scored like 70 points in game and I think has dropped like 40 before for the heat. Downsides are his akward delivery and is shooting guard in 6-1 frame. May or may not fit with the Rockets. For the Minimum: Donnell Harvey: Is a spectacular pphysical specimen who can rebound supreme and block shots and score here in there. Aplayer in between Amare Stoutemire and Gerald Wallace who is still developing on offense. Rafer Alston: Man has skills beyond belief which tend to vear off the NBA style road. Is a sold scorer and is a excellent passer with on court vision. His alter ego "Skip to my Lou" tends to slip out sometimes but hey it sells tickets. Very good assist/turnover ratio for the mintes he plays. Bernard King (Texas A&M): Is swingman player who can score at will at college level but is still unselfishDoes nothing really out of this world but has the attributes to make a solid role player. What's are ya'lls opinions?
The last thing we need is an undersized backcourt combination with skip and steve. their steetball mentality and utter lack of nba gaurd knowledge would make a terrible backcourt. just plain terrible!
I remember Rod Grizzard was playing on some summer league and really wants a better shake at the NBA. He's alot better than Gerald Wallace was/is , and only got cut last year because of a fractured leg or something... Good size, Good D, Good ballhandeling skills ( sounds like posey)
Darvin Ham is a free-agent and isn't he from around here. Rod Gizzard was only averaging like 5 points in the NBDL. Eddi House would be nice but he doesn't necerily fit the team. Although him and Francis can make killer tandem like Bibby and Jackson, and Minnesota's Cassell and Hudson. But then all of Moochi's dollar's would go to waist b/c then he would only get like 10 minutes a night. House can be used as a spark plug and not neccesrilybe legitamately in the rotation. Whenever we need a quick scoring run put him in. Give Moochie consistent minutes in the 2nd and late 3rd quarter but let Eddie be a situational player that goes in like the SWAT team. By putting him at point, Francis at the two, cuttino at the three and letting him bring it up pass it to steve , then he goes off screens to get his shot opportunities like Iverson but in like 6 minute spands. I really think he would work. LMS P.S. I think Marcus Hatten would be a solid pick-up and so would Carl English but I think he signed with Indiana.
I don't know those guys well but with what we have to date, we will need a backup defensive SF and a backup PG. Maybe a PF. We have: PG: Steve, Mooch. A solid and defensive PG here is nice. SG: Cat, Pike, Hawk SF: Rice, Boki, Pike, Hawk. Hawk is only man to play D, sometimes we will need a defensive stopper. PF: Eddie, MoT C: Ming, Cato T Morris seems to be a nice fit. He can backup 3 and 4 if needed. Don't know why we let him go!? Collier is also OK for 3rd string C too.
I wouldn't mind Harvey as a scrappy end of the bench 4/5. I dont think we need another shooting guard, we have Pike and Mobley. We might not need a back up point guard if we slide Mobley to the point position for 10 mins a game. Playing Mobley at the point would open up more minutes for Pike and his outside shooting. We really need another small forward, preferably one that can hit the outside shot, or play really good defense. I dont think there is one out there for the league minimum, and the Rockets are up against the lux tax after the Pike signing.
