ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Mavericks 4/24/2015 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 3)

Never underestimate a Houston sports fan's ability to expect the worst to happen at all times.

 

That was a bad half but we only find ourselves down 7.

Harden scoring well but doesn't seem like he's been dominant although 18 points... It's like he's scoring but not really affecting the game. It's a quiet 18. Have to play more team ball, slow it down more pick n roll more crisp passing but it could be a lot worse considering that 2nd quarter

 

They are on pace for 144. Where did you go to school?

 

He doesn't need to just take over. He needs to just make the right plays. The offense isn't the problem right now.

 

Defense is freaking awful. Fast breaks off of free throws?

 

Dallas played out of their minds, scored 72 points and the Rockets played one of their worst games defensively.

Yet only down by 7.

Get back to playoff defense and the Mavs will seize up.

 

I wish we had attacked at any point in that quarter. Bad D and were missing getting our FTs.

There have been a lot of bad calls/non-calls tho. Sigh. TJ, Smith, Prig and Brewer took some really bad shots, and wayyyyyyy too early in the clock.

 

If we're gonna have a bad quarter, I'm glad it was the 2nd quarter. Keep in mind Dallas is older and running on a short rotation. They will tire.

 

I also meant to say we need to defend better - too many run outs and uncontested shots

 

Rox shooting 52% on the floor, 54% on 3, and almost 70% on FT and killed the Mavs hack strategy.

And we are almost down by double digit at half.

Enough said.

I truly think we are winning the game. But what we shown at this 1st half you just dont see it with any legit contender against this opposition. Spurs/Clippers they would be up by 20 at the end of the 1st quarter. This game would be finished and Harden and Howard would be resting on the bench by the end of 3rd quarter.

 

I'm hoping the Rox were so embarrassed at half time that they will come out with more of an edge. They like to preach about defense so they need to deliver. They can't allow themselves to get so rattled and start making bad decisions. Rox just need to play their game and they will be fine.

ESPN targeting the wrong demographic with this pitch perfect 2 crap.

 

Man I really wish we'd put Johnson on Barea. He's been their best player the entire series pretty much, just stop him and these games are a breeze.

 

It still is a mentality issue with the squad. They need to have a better mentality in these types of positions. This second half will say a lot.
