Let's not forget 2005... this series is FAR from over

I really hope the players don't get too high about this win. I'm sure they're getting news left and right about the other team, and I hope they don't let up.

A recurring theme this year is that scrubs almost always go off on us. We gotta be ready for Harris, Barea, Felton. I'm positive Dirk's game 2 performance offensively won't be repeated, neither will Monta's.

Let's just get this one win somehow.

 

People say Dallas has a chemistry issue, but that was really a Rondo issue and that obviously won't be an issue anymore in game 3.

Add that they'll be at home, and knowing what they have on the court, opposed to late news about Parsons and Rondo being a wild card. Plus it should be interesting what adjustments Carlisle makes to cover up Nowitzki getting killed on D.

At the same time they may be trading chemistry issues for morale issues. And ultimately we have more firepower. But we will probably see a different Dallas team Friday. I don't know if we can count on Josh going HAM again. I feel really good about our chances but there will be some close calls.

 

I think we lose Game 3, win Games 4 and 5

 

It's not over, because as bad as Dallas has looked, they were leading in the 4th.

I understand what you are saying. But this Mavs team is not the 2005 team. And Dirk is not the scary Dirk he was and his defense sucks. I think the Rockets got this 4-1 or maybe 4-0. I would have agree with you if the Rockets were facing the Spurs, or Clippers, or if Dirk was 27 years old.

 

Rockets and Warriors are the only teams not to have a 3 game losing streak all season.

So either Rockets lose 3 in a row for first time, or Mavs win Games 3,4,6,7

 

...otherwise Rockets win the series!

 

Barring injury, the only way I can plausibly see the Mavs winning 4 of 5 games is if:

• Dirk becomes 2005 Dirk
• Monta Ellis has at least 2 games of 35+ points
• Dwight is in serious foul trouble for multiple games
• Harden continues to shoot poorly AND stops getting FTAs
• Rockets bench can't buy a 3-pt shot

I really believe that the veteran leadership of Ariza/Brew/JET and what McHale/Howard/Harden went through with last year with Lillard's 3, have completely altered the mindset of this entire team.

Stop acting like this series is over. We won the first two games at home but even without parsons and rondo the mavs can still put the effort in and win a game or two. lets stop the "who do we want next round?" Threads until we take care of business first. Go rockets.

 

agreed, but honestly, it only matters how the players are treating the situation. and they seem focused and locked in. like hakeem said, "stay humble, stay hungry."

 

I agree though that we as fans have the right to discuss. You or someone who does not like to talk about it can avoid those threads.

there is literally ZERO CHANCE the mavs win this series given the various situations. stick a fork in it. no jinx possible

Let's be honest. Playoffs don't start until the Rockets actually beat a team that the media respects and considers an actual contender. This series doesn't mean anything. We are 14 games away from winning the championship, but at the same time only 4 losses away from being nothing again.
