I just don't think you lose anything by calling a scrub player out who is being a distraction off the court and a detriment on the court. You want to get as much distance between him and your team as you can as quickly as you can.

    Huh?
What he said makes zero difference as to what the rest of his team thinks the rest of the series and as to what will happen.
To my knowledge, Cuban, Donnie and Rick have a solid relationship and I highly doubt Cuban gives a $hit if Rick said that(I may be wrong but McMahon/Dwain Price or one of the other Mavs beat writers will let the public know if Cuban does care).

What other places did Carlisle wear his welcome out? This isn't Scott Skiles/Mike Dunleavy/George Karl etc.

Who would it be best for if Carlisle leaves after this season? The Rockets? Surely not the Mavs. Not sure there's a surplus of championship winning coaches hanging around looking for work at the moment.
Anyway, unless his relationship with Cuban and Donnie deteriorates a la Mark Jackson-Bob Myers/Lacob, I don't believe Rick is going anywhere.

lmao at all the folk blaming Carlisle.

You've got an absolute cancer in Rondo who was only kept in check by the personalities of 3 ATG players.

Dude is giving zero effort and has given up, absolutely pathetic

I'm pretty sure Carlisle and Cuban are on the same page.

Some of you have been around here long enough to remember the reaction on this BBS to Tmac 'quitting' on the team during a not-so-meaningful game against Toronto back in the day. It was brutal. A lot of members here have never forgiven him for it.

But this? Quitting on your team on the floor, in the middle of game two of a playoff series, already down one? This is the lowest of the low. I'm shocked.

If I'm a Mavs fan I hate this dude more than any other player by a long shot. To think they gave up Wright and picks and got... this? Wow.

Dude has flushed millions down the toilet with his behavior. He really must be dumber than dirt not to realize that every gm is watching him quit on his team and thinking no way they want his toxic ass on their roster. Unbelievable.

    Oh, and #### the Mavs.

Remember that time where Rondo broke the TV that was shown critiquing his mistakes?:

Carlisle needs to take some blame here. Rondo was a major piece of a Championship team and an All Star not very long ago. In 2015 you cannot Jerry Sloan players into being your robot on the court. Rick needs to learn that or he will be out of a job soon.

That said, Rondo is a jerk.

You are correct about what happened in Detroit, but Carlisle isn't going anywhere after this season. Put that in the bank.

Him and Garnett are the same breed. Hate both of them.

I said in the game thread last night that I was worried more about Barea than about Rondo. Now that Rondo is out, the Mavs are actually more dangerous.

Agreed. Typically I'm in the camp of saying whatever it takes to diffuse drama. But the talk will be about Rondo no matter what for the next few days. And that situation is beyond repair.

What Carlisle said makes any Rondo question directed at him moot.

Relax, Dude just needs a good situation to redeem himself.

He has won a title and 89% or higher percentage of players cannot achieve that.

So he has got a thing crossed off his bucket list

And Rondo was a late 1st rounder (21st) off the top of my head

    Not that bad

No team is going to offer him a fat contract now. He's going to have to take a small deal and restore his reputation.

Never underestimate the foolishness of the Lakers.
