Another gem from the angry Mavs fan. Vid is NSFW due to language. Also if you are wearing headphones turn the volume down a bit.

What sucks about getting beat by Houston is...
    8:57 AM
..Their delusional fans probably think they are accomplishing something here.

But the reality is I don't even know if we could beat New Orleans or OKC in a playoff series. Our team lacks balance and our backcourt has quit on us...so...yeah, not going to beat anybody like that...

Houston is not very good and will likely get swept by either SA or the Clippers. And then that will kind of tell the story about just how bad we were as a team.

Anytime Houston beats Dallas in anything they go overboard. Having lived in the Houston area for almost 20 years I've bcome very accustomed to it. They have a huge inferiority complex when it comes to Dallas period.

Prepare yourself for this from here on out. It doesn't matter who we beat in these playoffs, it won't be because we were the better team; it'll be because our opponent didn't play as well as they could have. The media as a whole just does not like this team.

Mark my words: If we somehow manage to win the whole thing, during the off-season we will be the most disrespected NBA champs since, um, 1995 or so.

    "The Fox and the Grapes"[edit]

A classic illustration of cognitive dissonance is expressed in the fable "The Fox and the Grapes" by Aesop (ca. 620–564 BCE). In the story, a fox sees some high-hanging grapes and wishes to eat them. When the fox is unable to think of a way to reach them, he decides that the grapes are probably not worth eating, with the justification the grapes probably are not ripe or that they are sour (hence the common phrase "sour grapes"). The moral that accompanies the story is "Any fool can despise what he can not get". This example follows a pattern: one desires something, finds it unattainable, and reduces one's dissonance by criticizing it. Jon Elster calls this pattern "adaptive preference formation".[16]

We should have a thread "What they're saying: [Team Name] edition" and post best quotes from upcoming/previous Rockets game rivals forum.

Well, they're both free agents so a trade would be unnecessary, but hey, at least Lin would try to stay on the floor. Rondo checked out sometime during game 1

I think he's right it's an open question whether Dallas could beat the Pelicans or Thunder. So beating Dallas isn't going to be much of an accomplishment on the road to the championship. I doubt we get swept, but the Clippers or Spurs will be a much bigger test than the Mavs (which is the whole point of seeding in the first place -- first round is supposed to be a gimme).

They're also right about the irrationality of the rivalry -- but apparently Dallas has it just as bad.

Agreed. I will go further and say that this Dallas team isn't even a true test. That team has the worst interior defense I've seen in a while. Jsmoove-Dwight combo was awesome last night but no way that happens against any other playoff team in the West. I'm not knocking our team because it is taking care business but we haven't been blooded yet. We will be in round 2 no matter who we face.

I do think the Mavs are a great "tune-up" matchup that is allowing Dwight to get his timing and wind back and also letting this team gel now that we know who is and who is not going to play. We will be a better team in round 2 and we will need to be if we want to see the WCF.
