The way I see our team turning out is this.....
Our entire team will be good at defense due to Jeff Van Gundy and his teaching meathods. He knows how to "teach" defense just as good as anyone in the league. That is why I like the fact that Houston will not match the offer for Posey, and go after Piat. If Piat is as good a shooter as soom people say he is, he will LEARN defense under Van Gundy and will be effective on both ends. As will Steve and Cat. But all this is assuming JVG is as good a teacher as i am under th assumption he is.

Piat's 3 point range will open up our offense and allow Yao to pass the ball out to an open Piat with confidence. Steve will now be able to move without the ball more as will Cat and EG will have basically no pressure to put up big numbers and that will def. help his game.
    That how I see it..........

Wasn't that supposed to be Rice's role?

JVG can teach all he wants, but if the boneheaded players won;t listen, what then?

Rudy used to tell EG to bang inside - instead EG would jack up 3's, etc, etc.

Can JVG teach Piat to grow a few inches, run faster, and steal more?

It's one thing to show a player the right way, it's a whole other thing for them to execute it properly, or to even have the physical ability to.

    Interesting thought.

I remember when Bullard played for us the first time, absolutely no defese. He went away for two years, when he cam back he played D. Not that he hd\ad become a great defender, but he definately playd his position.

    I hope you are right.

Very true RB but as everyone know Rudy was a players coach, and Jeff is very hard-nosed. And players that don't listen to JVG wont get much playing time. Plus he is a disciplinarian. (sp?)

No he can not help Piat grow or get faster, but he def. can teach him how to play defense using Yao backing him up.
Also, Piat is younger then Rice, faster the Rice, and overall better then Rice. Not to mention can still be taught stuff.
