The current Rockets has many of the same strengths and flaws that the 2005 team had. Two star players, good rim protection and overall defense, lots of veterans, but the supporting cast lacked the ability to generate offense off the dribble. At some point, unless one of the members of the supporting cast really owns his matchup (Jones? Smith?) this team is going meet a similar fate as the 2005 team and we'll have bitter taste in our mouths 10 years from now.

McGrady gave Dirk fits, playing tight on him, forcing Dirk to put the ball on the deck where he's much less effective. Makes me think Ariza can do more of the same even better with Dirk aging so much.

    Wow ... wait

    2005 we had
    Sura
    Wesley
    Tmac
    Padgett
    Yao

    Bench:
    Jon Barry
    Mike James
    Ryan Bowen
    Moochie
    Deke

Is there even a comparison between that roster and this year's roster?

The Rockets bench is what has made this years team a better team. Having Vets that know what it takes in the playoffs is also a big reason that this team can do something special. This will be a great playoff run. Go Rockets!!

    OTOH Mavs 05 had

    JET
    Josh Howard
    Finely
    Dirk
    Dampier

    Bench:
    Stackhouse
    Darrel Amstrong
    Marquis Daniels
    Harris
    Bradley

Much better than the Mavs of this year

Mavs also had cuban complaining and the refs helping them with calls. all the moving screens called on Yao and the Finley bs not called out of bounds play.

The most bitter part for me is I assumed Yao would be back. Did not realize it was a career ending event.

Josh smith alone generate more bench offense than 2005. Please-no more commentary from you- go back to make-out session with Pat Patterson poster.

The more i think about this currrent series, the more im thinking to myself if we don't get past the first rpund this year then just forget about everything moving forward. If you have howard and harden and you don't win because you are missing dmo...and that is the excuse then i have no sympath at all.

I remember being at game 4 in that series at 12 years old. I was damn near in tears after the game. Some punk ass Mavs fan was getting in my face saying "what happened?" after the game. I was ****ing 12 man. **** Mavs fans, **** the Mavs.

I think we have some younger guys on the bench, fresh blood, than before

It is up to McHale to play them.

i hated the mavs until they got their tails kicked against Golden State Warriors in 2007 when Baron Davis, Stephen Jackson, and Jason Richardson demolished a 65-17 dallas team. That was worse than whatever we went through. Number 1 seed going down in flames in Game 6.
