This probably belongs in the other forum, but I figure it'd get more exposure in the Hangout.

Anyway, Bags will be on Rome in the upcoming hour.

    Rome's ESPN show?

Or does he still do that thing on Fox Sports?

I heard the interview while in my car flipping the dials. It's cool to see Houston guys getting national exposure, but Jim Rome? That "no talent ass clown"? Puuhhhleeaze!

    I disagree.

The clones are the only thing that ruins that show. He conducts great interviews.

Bagwell didn't say anything he didn't say re: 400 HR. Just talked about no-hitter and Lima time.

I guess if you consider kissing a guest's ass as a great interview, then yes he does some outstanding work.

I don't think you can dismiss rome as just an ass-kisser. He gets interviews with guys no one else gets, and in my opinion, his demeanor allows guests to open up and feel comfortable in talking with him in ways that they don't with others. Therefore, he is able to hit on the controversial topics as well.

I don't think the show is as good as it has been, but Rome knows what he's talking about, works his ass off, and generally speaking, has a good show.

i just think the schtick wore off already...i was a religious listener to his program...i very rarely missed it. now i can't stand it. it just sounds like a broken record to me. and the cali attitude and lingo is just way too much...way over the top. funny at first...but is so tired now.

Judging by your moniker, I hardly think you can be partial. ;)

True....I've had this moniker for a couple of years now, and I was addicted to the show back in high school, and some of college. "Junglerules" actually has an inside joke meaning to me and one of my best friends from college, but yeah, I'd be lying if I said that it doesn't stem at all from my previous addiction to "The Jungle."

It used to be a lot better. But as others have said, there are some days where it's unlistenable. Back in the day, I loved hearing the quirky callers, and felt the show would drag when Rome interviewed someone.

Now, although they have moments here and there, most of the callers are tools, and Rome can totally burn out a topic, even the funniest ones, if he keeps going on and on about it. He stalls too much, too.

The Smackoff was classic, though. I think if I could just catch the Smackoff, the interviews, and the best of shows, I'd be set.:)

rome was awesome up to about a year or two ago. i still listen to him on occasion but am not bothered to miss it. that being said, he's still a damn good interviewer and can get quality guests. the callers and the general show is the only part that's down.
