If we lose Posey how much cap space do we have for another free agent? (Odom)

It apears the Clippers are being the Clippers. After all that talk about retaining Odom, they only offered him a three-year deal worth $24 million. Now the Heat is reportedly willing to offer Odom a six-year deal in the neighborhood of $60 million. Could we come close to that offer? If so I would imagine he would rather come here and play with his freind Cat than go to the lowly Heat.

    Not enough to land Odom.

Lamar is a restricted free-agent, I believe, so whatever we offer (mid-level), they can easily match, and have shown the willingness to do so this offseason. Plus, I don't believe that the
MLE will get us Odom, he apparently told the Knicks to back off because that's all they had. He and Mobley were teammates at Rhode Island, but I don't think they played a game together.

I believe that Odom was sitting out for the season or something to that effect.

We could not do anything like that without a major trade.

The Rockets are a good bit over the cap, with or without Posey. We are acctually very close to the Luxary Tax number (they are two different amounts). All we can offer any free agent is the mid class exception (about $5 million) and the veterens minumin (1.5 mil I think).

The mce won't be enough for Odom.

Straying off the subject (kind of). Since there will be a 4 team trade involving the T-Wolves, Knicks, Sixers, and Hawks each trading a player among themselves.

This will result as NY with a log jam at the PF spot. Would we be interested in acquiring Othella Harrington or maybe Kurt Thomas?

    And would this benefit us?

    Please Advise

Kurt Thomas, purported JVG fav, would be a nice asset.

NONE! The rockets are OVER the cap. That means all they can offer are the Mid Level Exception (up to $5 million) and the Veteran Min ($1.5 mil).

The rockets can re-sign Posey to what ever they want because he is already a rocket. If you could convince Odom to play for the rockets for $5 mil a year, then he can play here, if not, he won't.

i disagree, I rather give griff some minutes and let Mo Taylor have another chance to be the player he was. LEt griff get PT and experience. It not lke we're going for the championship this year, I think its best to let Griff grow and not waste any trade bait on someone that is supposed to be replaced. But my whole argument hinges on Griff still being the PF of the future for this team.
