If Posey is gone what are we gonna do at the 2-3 spot. Rice CANNOT handle heavy mins anymore and (I love Boki as much as the next guy but..) I'm not sure he's ready to play 25-30 mins a game himself. I know MoT and EG aren't the two most popular Rox but I like that duo at PF a lot more than Rice/Boki at the SF. I know theres plenty of time to make a move but whats out there at the swingman spot and the Rox make a move? I hope so.

wait at least 15 days after Posey signs the offer sheet then post this thread. 4 years at 22 million will be matched. That's a cheaper deal then i expected.

We didn't offer Posey any more than that (4/22mil)? Can we match that w/o going over the cap?

the rockets can match any offer to Posey. The rockets are about 2 million under the luxury tax threshold. So, if Posey makes 5 1/2 million a year under this 4 year/22 million dollar deal. The rockets would have to pay about 8 million to get him because for every dollar you go over the luxury tax, you've got to pay another dollar. But i think Les will match it, if not he's an idiot

    5.5 Million

about 2.5 away from the Luxury tax threshold so

3 million over the threshold which would double, meaning it becomes 6 million.

So about 8.5 million this year for Posey. After Rice's contract expires then we would go back under the threshold and wouldn't have to worry about it. Next year he would drop back down to 5.5 million.

I tried to explain it the best i could

Bostjan Nachbar can't even play well in the summer league. He's a project, he's not ready to play big minutes, or start for that matter. He's not Peja

Nobody said he is. Even if Posey leaves we have a veteran to start, a defensive character guy and a talented Euro to get minutes midway through the year. Losing Posey isn't the end of the world. Agreeing to another bad contract is the bigger risk!

5 million a year for 4 years isn't bad. Especially when you consider all these bad contracts over the past few years will expire in 4 to 5 years. James Posey is a guy the rockets are better off keeping.

I would rather have Posey. But, I believe Boki will be a player in this league. He needs playing time. The summer leagues stats really aren't a true barometer of Boki's game. In this league, Boki will be a complementary player. With the right guys, Boki will excel. Francis and Yao are the types of players Boki needs around him.

He is back. I forgot what team he played for, maybe memphis. You can find his stats on the same page that shows the rockets box scores. I got there through the rockets web page. He did suprisingly well for his first time back. I think we should pick him up. He deffinatly has a huge upside if he is able to play in a full season.

It's not worth risking future money to resign Ming...forget Posey and give the ball to Boki. Boki could be a better swingman than Stojakovic...which would be a good thing...a really good thing.

What in his history as a Rocket makes you think he capable of being a player in the NBA? You have to either be going by the predraft press clippings or on blind faith because he hasn't done jack **** on the court. He seems like a nice guy though. :)

If it is possible that we're not going to match Posey's offer---possible, I say---then why did we ever go through the business of publicly stating T-Mo is playing summer league to see if he can catch on with a team?

His shot isn't great (neither is Posey's) but he plays decent D and has long arms. His drawback is that he defers too much. He's a better player than he knows, but he bows to the team's ballhogs.

Still, if CD is actually looking at "other options," he could do a hell of a lot worse. If he loses Posey, that means KT's presence was a waste, as we traded him for nothing; not to mention the first-round draft pick we flushed for T-Mo.
