I usually play on varsity BUT I let Corso pick all my offensive plays...no exceptions. Throwing on 3rd and short or running on 3rd and 12 tends to even things out a little.
The all time Texas team is sweet. Simms and Applewhite are both on the roster...Simms rated higher than Applewhite
Yep....doesn't Applewhite wear #7 on it though? What's up with that? Is there a number 11 on offense that I missed somewhere?? Nothing like a backfield of Priest, Ricky and Earl, though. Awwwwww, YEAH!
I went to a D3 school for undergrad but I go to Miami for Law School so thats the team I picked. OU lost to South Freakin Carolina so I moved from #3 to #2 in the coaches poll but still #3 in the media behind Texas. I'm undefeated and blowing teams out really. Just dropped the 56-0 beat down on West Virginia. The only close game was my 24-13 win against Florida in which I needed an 89 yd pick off return for a TD when they were in the red zone and I was up 14-13. My passing has been pretty good and my D fantastic but my running game is struggling a bit. Any tips out there? I'm playing on All-American. Great game though. Finally got an SI cover which I was really geeked about and the Miami intro is dead-on and gets me excited.
OK, you guys might not know this, but without the human playing them, Texas SUCKS in this game. I'm getting tired of playing Oklahoma twice every year (once regular season, once conference championship).
That's tough. Although if the computer you typed this on is decent, the PC version of Vice City is much better anyway. Vice City is a fun game though....just depends on how much you liked GTAIII. Or just trade a bunch of stuff you don't play to EB and get 2004 cheaper.
The Notre Dame intro is awsome, love it makes me want to use Notre Dame rather than my Texas Tech, maybe later I suppose
Have anyboy has sent D.T Linder a Memory card cause i sent mine and i wanted to know how the rosters he makes are good.
I just won my first national championship in year 1 with UTexas. Chance Mock broke school records in passing and td's Roy Williams won the Maxwell and Heisman Miami was number 1 until they got knocked off by Pitt. late season. I ended up playing Maryland in the Sugar Bowl in N.O. Chance Mock ended up leaving for the NFL and I picked up this new recruit at QB with an 84 freshman rating. Vincent Young is at 87 as a Soph redshirt Cedric Benson is at a 99 and is a Heisman candidate for '05
I'm still on my first dynasty. I just whipped blowU in the Red River Shootout 38-6. Their 1st and 2nd string centers are both out, so I blitzed like a madman. I knocked out their QB in the first quarter. Johnson hit him so hard it broke his shoulder and now he's out for the season! Tubbs had a fumble recovery TD and Vasher had 2 ints for TDs. Hope that's a good omen for the real game.... Now I'm #1 in the BCS. VT is #2. Ohio State and Miami both lost this week. Benson is #4 in the Heisman, but Roy Williams is coming on strong. I plan on padding his stats against Baylor to get him back in the running. I plan on sending a memory card to that roster guy this week.
I have had a problem with a created school on the game. Whenever I try to play a home game with my created school (Blue Ridge State of North Carolina), the damned thing locks up when loading. Anyone else got the same bug?
They are all over the place in different formations. I've seen half back passes, QB screens in the ace formation (toss to the rb, he throws back to the qb on the other side), wr reverse passes, an array of end arounds, reverses, wr screens, etc. Personally, i like the qb screen if you set it up here and there with tosses to the rb. That's the problem, though. The toss usually doesn't work well for me. Oh well. I recruited a quick qb, so when i throw back to him, he can actually get some yards here and there. I am starting my third season with Michigan, and I'll have to pick a new team soon. With recruiting, my team has become too dominating. I've gotten the top recruiting class in the ncaa two years in a row, now, and most everyone is a 80 or better. I beat OU in the title game last year, even though they knocked my starting qb out of the game, and my best CB got hurt vs ohio st. I was offered the job at Free Shoes University after the season, but I declined. I'd rather play out the third year of my coaching contract, and take it from there.
Well it's taken me some time but my dynasty is now a football factory. Starting out as an Independant academic team (C+ at best, but don't get beat on trick plays because everyone has a high awareness) in Virginia (Hampden-Sydney in the HOUSE!) and had a tough first 2 years. Then lucked out and got my first stud, a 5* pass rush DE who was 6'7", 275. Needless to say I controlled him in all my games for 4 years and set both career (80 something) and game (10 vs. Nebraska) sack records. Had a couple bowl seasons and got invited to the MAC, where I really started whipping the competition and getting my prestige level up. Anyway, now my team is a 5 time national champion, everything is A+, 2 time ACC champ. I've got 6 or 7 guys rated at 99 and I averaged over 50 points a game simming last season against a 5* schedule. I'm thinking it's time to start a new one. Maybe San Jose State, UConn, or Buffalo. We'll see.
Ya I have to say my only complaint is that recruiting and building a dynasty is too easy in this game. I wish there were difficulty levels on dynasty for the stuff outside of actual gameplay.
How is everyone doing with the college classics? I don't sit around all day trying to complete each one, but here and there I'll give a couple a try, and now I'm up to 10 completed. I just finished the 1990 Colorado-ND game, where the Rocket takes the punt when you start, and I also just completed the 98 OSU-Michigan St. one. I think I agree with the people who say that EA needs to get rid of the stupid stuff, like Mascot games, and get more things like this in the game that help gamers appreciate the history and excitement of college football. I only wish you could go in and edit the classic teams to give the players real names, but I haven't seen any way that you can.
Yeah I agree. I took Ohio State and they were already loaded. I won the Championship 2/3 first years. After a while like my entire recruiting class is blue chippers and I am cutting guys that are really good. I also think it's unfair that you can give up to 25 schlorships every year (But I have figured out that if I recruit as many good players as possible I do have to cut them but at least other teams don't pick them up, so it helps me even more). I think my next venture (like many of you) is to take a bottom level school and work my way up, could be more of a challenge. But I love the game.
Actually Blacklovers are crap. He makes no adjustments other than names. Linder adds missing players, adjusts ratings so to be more realistic and he adjusts players from the default looks(i.e. facemasks, visors, etc.) Ask 20 people that have used both and I would bet most will prefer Linder's ( I know I do).
Okay, so I finished my first season yesterday, after picking up the game from circuit city in Round Rock on Saturday. Rode Baylor to a 14-0 season, Sugar Bowl victory over Ohio St.= national champions. Reggie Newhouse won the Maxwell Award for best receiver, with like 28TD catches. This was playing with 1 minute quarters to expedite the season. My first recruiting class was really good. Picked up a couple of 5* LBs, a 5*CB, and a 5*FS. Got a speedy RB too, along with about 6 or 7 4*players. The rest of the holes were filled in with mostly 3* guys and a couple of 2*.
