We're paying Maloney some $2 mil something. Very sad.
If we do sign Posey to this supposed 4 year maxed deal, then there probably goes TMo and Pike for sure. If not, we still have a chance to try to get them. That as an alternative isn't too bad.
As for Posey, he's Defense was more off the ball defense not the ball up on on one. He hustles but so does Hawk. Posey's more athletic but at certain times too much, missing easy lay-ups and the occasional alley-oop.
Now I want us to see that Posey hasn't even signed the offer sheet, and the Rockets just heard of this POSSIBLE/ORAL (we connotations) agreement. We still have time to wait past the 15 days as they haven't even begun the countdown! Heck for all we know Posey could have said Grizzlies would sign him to $30 4 years for all we possibly know. Since Grizzlies haven't even signed him, the amount of $ is still up in the air until he signs the contract and we're given the amount.

Once Posey signs the offer sheet, a sign and trade cannot happen. Though he has not signed the offer sheet, a sign-and-trade is still unlikely, as Memphis has little incentive to try such a move, especially if they believe that Houston may not match it.

So much for the three spot. Rice and Boki at the three would be the worst small forwardcombo in the NBA!

The guys that are complaining right now are going to be the same ones complaining about Posey's contract in a couple of years if we do match Memphis' deal. He is defensive specialist. He is replacable! Give Boki the chance to play!

Aaargh!!! I'm all for giving the younger guys a chance to develop, but Boki can't shoot for nuts and Rice can't last 25-30 minutes! And those are our potential STARTERS?!?!?

    OK, the sky has fallen.

    Time to panic, folks...

I agree with the defense part, but that's about it . Hawkins was the only guy on the team last year that shot the three as poorly as Posey. He would be great to keep at around 3 to 4 mill and that is it.

actually, while hawkins was a very poor overall shooter (38.5%) he was somehow an excellent 3 pt shooter at 41.7%.

I don't mind seeing Posey go but we are gonna miss TMo. If we don't sign Posey that is 5 mill. we have to spend elsewhere next season. We are not winning a ring this year.

The SF position is the second most important position in a center dominant offense. The SF is the best position to feed the post. We need a great SF and Posey ain't great. If we can't get a great SF then patience is the right move.

This offseason is not going to plan. The Rockets have yet to make a "splash." I'm pissed b/c Posey will be outa here... no way Rox will or should match for anything more than they offered.
That leaves us Rice (too old and gone after this season) and Boki (too slow, no D, streaky shooter at best) for the 3 spot. Switching gears to the power forward, Eddie is a softy, MoTaylor is a fat ass.
Ideally, we need a pure shooting small forward and a physical powerforward to compliment Steve and Yao. We have none of that. I believe we'll make the playoffs at the sixth seed, with the Suns 7 and Jazz 8. But don't expect a championship run this season with the bunch of slap dicks that we have.

If no JP, then call Jimmy Jackson, Pike and or Tmo. We might be able to get all three of them for the MLE.

Let's sign Robert Horry 5-6 million for 2 years. Horry can play defense and feed the ball. He can hit the outside jumper better than Posey. and He is not old.

Perhaps Jerry West made the offer to Posey knowing we will match it putting ourselves out of the running for free agents in the future. If we don't sign it he gets a very decent starting sf and another asset with which to make deals.

Maloney's contract was redone down to $500,000 a year for, I believe another 5 years.

I'm a big Posey fan but I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really do not want the Rockets to overpay for him. This whole situation reminds me of the Moochie Norris fiasco. If the price is too high, then just let him go. It isn't the end of the world.

There is no way Posey should get 50 million, Kenny isn't worth that either. The guy Bill Simmons on ESPN called the KT deal one of the worst in the history of the NBA. It has been stated it is a 4 year deal for Posey so 50 mil is out of the question. Let's just wait and see what happens....
