I don't understand why everyone is jumping all over CD when they just received notice and haven't decided whether or not to match.

At least let our management say one way or the other before you bash them. Geez.

You had to see this coming with Grizzles missing out on Pippen. Let Posey go he is an avg player. He can be replaced. The heat is on for the FRONT OFFICE to make some moves.

Is a sign and trade out of the question? The Grizz do have some serious cap problems of their own, especially with Bryant Reeve's bloated contract.

Regardless, CD isn't stupid. I'm sure he has SOMETHING planned. With their leader gone, would the Blazers be willing to part with their best player as well...?

Or will Sprewell finish his career under JVG?

Or is Les a greedy b*stard, CD a lazy piece of sh*t, and the Rockets a lottery team for the fifth straight season?

    Only time will tell.

That's going to be interesting. I wish the Hawk could have a more consistent jumper next season.

It seems almost everyone here is spazzing out over the Rox potentially losing Posey are suffering from "Ow there's sand in my vagina" syndrome. Posey was a player that hustled all the time, and knew how to run the fastbreak. Other then that, he was a guy that didn't have much of a perimeter game, and could be non existant at times. You guys are acting like Posey was the savior of this team that would put us over the edge, which is wrong. As nice as it would be to see this team win a ring next year, I think the goal is simply to get our feet wet in the playoffs, which is still possible with this squad. Most new head coaches don't want to make big trades or sign big contracts right at the start anyways, just so they can see what kind of team they have in the first place. In the meantime, I think it'd be best to not make any big moves yet til next season when other big name contracts like Bryants, and I think McGradys are up. That's not to say they'll sign with us next season, but CD shouldn't be hasty and try and get a big name contract. For once I'd like to see this team be stingy when giving money out to our players, especially ones that aren't part of the core of this team. In the meantime, the Rockets should be patient, and wait for our bad contracts to expire, or make some moves to relieve some cap space. It's not like in the time being we'll be winning a ring before contracts like Moochies/Catos/Taylors will be off the hook.

First of all Deckard, we DO know we're not getting him b/c as dumb as CD is, he's not dumb enough to take us into lux tax territory over Posey.

Second, we do know that Oeilpere was full of crap b/c he said that posey WOULD be back, he's not (not to mention I still don't see or hear anything about Mobley "packing his bags"). Sorry, but unless Posey AND Mobley are involved in some sign & trade, and Memphis is the mythical "pussyland," he was flat out wrong.

Third, Swift would be the last thing we need. We need a SF, a backup SG, a backup PG, and a banging PF. How in the hell will s & ting Posey OR Mobley solve these problems? Even if we sign & trade Posey at this rate, we're STILL over the tax threshold...

You left out the fact that he is the best perimeter defender on the team. That goes a loooong way these days...

London, even if we do let Posey go & wait for Rice's contract to expire, we STILL won't be able to sign a top tier FA next year. You guys forget about Steve's max deal, our other horrible contracts that DON'T expire, and the fact that we'll have to max out Ming in a couple of years.

I agree. However, even by your account of CD's recent radio interview, the Rockets were not going over the luxury tax.

    This means

    1. They have to get rid of a contract to sign Posey or
    2. They won't match.

Im not sure how the Rockets are going to just get rid of a contract and who would take that on.

Also, to me the worst part about this is if it's true and we have absolutely no cap space, how the heck are we going to sign a backup PG/SG. It means once again, we will have a 3 guard lineup with Moochie playing major minutes.

That is rediculous. Les Alexander has done everything he could to make houston a winner. He is a great owner and is the one that GAVE THE OK to those bad contracts to CATO, MOT, and Moockie, Becuase the brass under him said it would help the team out. Posey hasnt even offichialy signed yet either, there is no telling what the rocks might do now. And Rice's contract comes off the books next summer which means houston can be a major player in the free agent market

    Bye bye Posey.

We'll be sure to leave you wide open while we triple team Gasol next year.

T-Mac's contract is through 06-07 season if he picks up the player's option at 06 summer.

Stromile Swift is not a free agent, so forget that. I still don't get why Memphis wants Posey, or why they wanted Pippen, they seem to have a ton of 2s and 3s.
But, I don't think this is over. The Rockets can match. Posey is a first-round pick, and we've got the rights to him, so we can go over the cap to resign him if need be. This is the problem the Warriors wish they had with Arenas. I'm just not sure that Posey is worth the full MLE. But this still begs the question, "Jesus Lord, why did you give Moochie that ****ing massive contract?!"

Codell, these blokes need all the bashing they are getting. There is no clear evidence that they know what they are doing. They should not be surprised by any of this. The guy they traded Posey for got 50 mil so one would expect to be in that general area. This is not a time to be talking about luxury tax. We need to cover our behind. Such a quality position has to be filled. No question. In fact we are lucky. There are lot of teams with some money to spend, it could have been worst.

As for bashing, you know he should be bashed if Tmo ended up with the Spurs. CD may just be senile. I am just puzzled that JVG went along with it.
