Signing Dorsey is the biggest flaw of Morey's career?

Not his worst deal, just sad since I'm sure we could have gotten some NBA vet big man for that much who'd be better.

 

Signing him AGAIN was bad. Repeatedly playing him in important games is worse.

 

I was at the game tonight and SPurs fans just laughed every time he caught the ball or shot a free throw. I even heard sarcastic chants of MVP when he was shooting free throws. He was an ongoing joke in my section.

He was brought over because he was the best defensive big in Europe. :grin:

So why did they give the 15th man guaranteed money?

Preach, preach, preach about flexibility and this and that and then you go give Dorsey $1 mil each season guaranteed and now he can't be cut because if so, he'll cut into cap space next year.

Had no problem giving out non-guaranteed(or partially guaranteed) deals...

Otherwise, I agree. It's silly we're talking about [what would normally be] the 12th - 15th man on the roster.

 

Honestly, his one on one post defense is pretty good and he has improved as a finisher this season. Everything else, especially help defense, rebounding and paint protecting have been horrible. Dude cannot/does not want to protect the paint or fight for boards. His awareness on both ends of the court just suck as he is always out of position for getting the rebound and too slow to react to rebounds that aren't in his immediate radius.

Don't even get me started in the free throw shooting.

Problem wasn't signing Dorsey, it was keeping him in favor of Adrien and especially Tarik Black.

 

Never pass on a guy with the last name Jordan.

 

Dorsey is also Howards friend. None of those guys you listed have been making an impact. Even if they were just barely marginally better I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the negative. I doubt he is on the team next year throughout the regular season.

Dorsey has the 24th best rebound rate of all qualifed players in the league.

When you go into a season with the vision that a guy who is capable of being a very high end rebounder as your 3rd string center I don't think that's such a bad thing.

If it weren't for a non stop carousel of injured big men we hardly would have seen him.

And really I do understand his shortcomings, but he has an elite skill in rebounding and I think investing near minimum deals on guys who posses an elite skill is not so terrible, especially when it's not in your plans for him to see much time at all let alone actually starting 20% of the season due to injury.

 

Yeah, Morey panicked early in the offseason after we lost Parsons to DAL. He'salready signed him twice, but he's just not NBA material.

Then he compounded it by letting go of Adrien and then Black so that we could watch Dorsey miss a strong of FTs in every game.

 

Declining Parsons 4th year team optin is the biggest flaw.
Morey thought he could sign Parsons a new contract to decline his 4th year option, but this gave his chance to leave.
We suppose It's all right that Morey has done, but we need Morey to do two things:
Pick Parsons 4th year team option(1.08m salary);
Trade Jason Terry & draft pics for Dragic.
Then we have team:
Howard/Dorsey
TJ/DM/Josh Smith
Ariza/Parsons
Harden/Ariza
Dragic/Pbev
we can match any team

 

We can still use Dorsey, instead play him at the beginning of quarters (maybe 5min at a time) when opponent is not yet in penalty. Then Dwight comes in for the last 6-7 min of the quarter.

That way also, Dwight will close the game. We need to tweet this to the Rockets.

 

But...but....but.... He's the best big man defender in the Euroleague....
