I completely believe in this team. I believe we can beat anyone. It will be much more difficult, but I've been watching the NBA for 25+ years now, and I've seen it all. Major upsets, teams winning who you thought were going to win, unheralded players stepping up, major stars choking, etc.

We're going into this as the underdog. I would never compare this team to the 1995 Rockets, except for one thing- the 95 Rockets were underdogs in every single series. That's going to be the case here, no matter who we face. Every year, there's always 1 team that people say will be the team that will be upset. If we are the 2nd or 3rd seed, that's going to be us. If we're 5th or lower, we'll be favored to lose.

So, basically, as fans, we have nothing to lose- without 2 key players, no one is picking us to win. And you'd hate to be the one that says, "I thought they were going to lose in the 1st round, so I didn't watch" and then it turns out they make it to the Finals.

So, no expectations, no predictions, no knee-jerk reactions- nothing. You support whoever is wearing a red uniform on the hardwood with the word Rockets on it, and maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised when we get past the first round or shocked if they go further.

We will hold you accountable for your statements. I know you're protecting your heart but for the ones that doubt us. FOR THE ROCKETS FANS THAT DON'T BELIEVE. You will be accountable for your actions.

If the Rockets make it to conference finals. For those that stated their doubts. You will be held accountable.

If the Rockets make it to the finals. For those that said it won't happen. You will be held accountable.

If the Rockets walk out with the Larry O'Brien trophy. For those that laughed and rolled their eyes. YOU WILL be held accountable.

And the Rockets victory will bring you less joy. You will not be able to say you ever believed. You will not be able to say you were ever a true Rockets fan.

If the Houston Rockets win it all. You will never be able to relate with the ones that believed from the beginning.

You will not be one of us.

other than harden, the rockets defense and depth are the two main factors this season with all the injuries. we lose depth but gain a healthy dwight and jones, still have the defense. rockets will make it to the 2nd round if they face the blazers, clippers or mavs. clippers will be the toughest and could go to 7 but dwight and harden will be too much. dwight's another beast in the playoffs, harden cant wait to redeem hismelf from last years playoffs.

Logically, this team doesn't make it out of the first round but this whole season has been illogical. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost in they first round or won it all tbh. I lowered my expectations as soon as mchale got extended so whatever they do is gravy to me.

When motivated, they can beat the Clippers, Blazers and Grizzlies in a 7 game series.

    Not sure about the Spurs/Warriors.

And that, in a nut-shell, is the western conference playoff rankings.

I don't see any team beating the Spurs (including GSW) when they're playing like this... the thing is, I can't help but think SA may be peaking too soon. The playoffs are a good 2+ month grind, and they've never had to ramp it up like this prior to the playoffs before (or at least if they did, they ended up running out of gas in the playoffs).

What's wrong with 38 year olds, the Rox just got their ass beat by a bunch of 38 year olds

I'm not really sure what you guys expect, half the team has been injured, we lost 2 starters in Bev/DMo and Dwight/Tjones are clearly not 100% yet. Thems the breaks, sometimes injuries just destroy your season so why are y'all acting like the Rox did something wrong?

If we lose in the first round then tough, all of the teams are really good and the Rox are at 60% strength with all the injuries. Why are people hyperventilating about it? There's nothing you can do when the team is missing so many people

we almost won this game though...

IF Harden would have made just 3 more 3s 5/6
    &
IF Dorsey made all his free throws 4/4 (it can be done with karl malone meditation)

I don't know. I have been a fan since we drafted dream. I just see too many areas in this years playoff team that can be exploited. What is our answer to D12 getting in foul trouble? What is our answer to top notch point guards? What is our answer when Harden is double teamed and not allowed to make plays? What is our answer to hack a whoever. What is our answer to needing to make adjustments and a coach that does not know how. Can we beat anyone? Sure. Can other teams adjust. Oh yea. Can we adjust to their adjustments? Err. Nope. A 7 game series is a chess match. Who do you want moving your pieces? Popovich or McHail.

Just too many weaknesses that can be exploited and not enough coaching expertise to protect those areas.

I am having a hard time understanding why the Rockets haven't added either Javale McGee or Nate Robinson to this roster yet. Getting either of them would help the team a lot. I don't think we can rely on Terry and Prigioni to run the point in the playoffs. We need a guard that can go off if Harden is having a bad game. Right now we don't have that. Adding McGee now that D-Mo is out for the season is the best thing in my mind. We do not have the size to compete with a team like the Spurs, Grizzlies, or even Portland for that matter. Can we win games against all of those team? Sure we can, but can we take 4 out of 7? I doubt it.

What happens when we advance to the second round? Do all the whiners in this thread admit they were wrong? Go root for another team if you can't stomach one loss to hot team that is also the national champs.

Sure we can stomach it. What we can't stomach is knowing ahead of time how popovich will stop us. Limit harden and play hacka. Now. If McHale can adjust and we win Friday. Great. If we win in the same way. Then yea. First round exit is certainly a possibility.

If Dmo was our only hope, we wouldnt've even made the playoffs.

This thread reminds me the similar thread of people saying Josh Smith is such a scrub after his second week in the Rox while the Pistons were winning something like 10 games in a row.

And that thread's OP whose probably the one praised Josh that will lead the Rox to a championship this year.

The fans did their part at Toyota center last year against Portland. The team didn't take defense seriously... rockets fans know defense wins championships. Mchale got outcoached not the fans... all the fans did is spend money and hope to see wins. This organization must do what it takes from the owner down.
