I heard it on the radio. I tried to find it on the internet, but havent found anything. It could be B.S. One thing is certain though, it wasnt her job to deliver the food.
You are right, the prosecution cant make her do anything. Yet, they can advise her. You can bet that they want her silent as long as possible.
Uh, so you are saying that Kobe will not be accused of the accusations? .... Uh, I bet you $1 million... but you don't have to pay all at once. We can work something out.
I am sooo in. " Accused"? All right...I'll put down everything I've got...no, wait, that's not much....everything anyone I know has...say a few mill, all told. At 25 to 1...having already won....rez, I do appreciate your funding my great great grandkinds education like this, sincerely.
I heard a lawyer talk about something like this earlier today on the Jim Rome show. He said that she allegedly went to his room for room service at 11 PM when the hotel was not supposed to still be doing room service.
Okay...deal. The only way I lose is if he is found guilty to the current charges of sexual assault. If the case is pled down, I still win. And MacBeth, your grandkids wont need the education if they are getting genes from your brain. So, I wont be needing to pay you.
rezdawg, macbeth is messing with the way you worded the bet. since he already has been accused of it, you lose. now if you were to use the word convicted, that would be a different bet.
As those other guys said, you actually lost before you concluded typing the sentence. I will accept your limit of $250,000, which is very generous of me, since you placed the limit after I accepted. Now, since I accepted the bet before MacBeth, if you can't pay both of us, you must pay me. It's sort of like holding preferred stock. edit: okay, so those younguns type faster than I do. Anyway, I was the first to accept your bet.
I haven't read this thread in its entirety, so maybe someone else already made this point... but doesn't proving this girl is a bit unstable also show that she might be JUST the type of girl to make an ill-advised trip to a superstar's room...maybe flirt with him, maybe even engage in sex with him and then realize later that it is not what she really wants? It just seems to me that if they all proved that she was a girl that really had it together, mentally, then it might make it LESS likely that she would put herself in a situation where she could get raped. Personally, I just don't see how this could hurt her all THAT much if the DA knows what he is doing, and effectively deflects it.
I hope you at least read how much rezdawg owes me. j/k It's an interesting point you make. Well, to me it's interesting. It seems like Kobe's defense's best strategy (since she claimed rape right away and went to the hospital with authorities) would be to claim that she is meticulous, brilliant, and sinister. I don't know how a flighty, confused and troubled woman thinks up this plot to frame him and executes it to perfection. More likely such a girl is easily star struck and can easily get herself into situations that aren't good for her. I know I have to presume his innocence, but I can't quit typing what makes sense to me. I just haven't yet seen a logical scenario for her trying to smear him and become "famous" in exchange for the world of crap she will now endure.
Here's an article at CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2003/LAW/07/21/kobe.bryant/ Bryant denial made accuser 'sick to her stomach,' friend says Coach: Bryant has his full support Tuesday, July 22, 2003 Posted: 0104 GMT ( 9:04 AM HKT) EAGLE, Colorado (CNN) -- Hearing NBA all-star Kobe Bryant deny the sexual assault charge filed against him made his accuser "sick to her stomach," a friend of the woman said Monday. Bryant, an all-star guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, has been charged with one count of sexual assault. He has steadfastly maintained his innocence, and after the charge was announced Friday, he admitted having sex with his 19-year-old accuser but said the encounter was consensual. "When she saw Kobe speak, she was really disgusted," Rachel Yandle, a friend of the woman, told NBC's "Today" show Monday. "It just made her sick to her stomach, and she couldn't believe he had the nerve to cry and just go by, holding his wife's hand." But Yandle said Bryant's story has changed. "At first he did nothing," she said. "He was making it sound like nothing happened. And now he is just saying it was consensual ... And when she saw all that, like I said before, it made her pretty sick to her stomach." With his wife and attorneys by his side, 24-year-old Bryant on Friday night admitted to adultery, but denied assaulting the woman. "You know. I didn't force her (the accuser) to do anything against her will. I'm innocent. You know. I sit here in front of you guys furious at myself. Disgusted at myself for making a mistake of adultery." Los Angeles Lakers Coach Phil Jackson said Monday he was saddened by the news of the criminal charge being filed against Bryant, and said the star guard deserves the "presumption of innocence" until the matter is settled. Jackson said the NBA all-star, whom he described as a responsible person, has his full support. "He has consistently demonstrated responsible behavior to me on and off the basketball court," Jackson said in his statement, which was released by his agent in Chicago. Friends said Bryant's accuser -- a former high school cheerleader who worked at the hotel where Bryant was staying -- was distraught over the death of a friend and a breakup with her boyfriend in recent months. But Yandle said the woman is not surprised her past is being questioned. "I think she just knows it is going to be a long process, and that they are going to try to find anything they can to use against her," Yandle said. She defended her friend's credibility. "She's not doing this for the attention or the money," Yandle said. "She just wants to see a consequence and for him (Bryant) to be behind bars. She's here for the justice." Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said Monday he would not comment on the reports or how they would affect his case. He called the reports "unfortunate." "I would rather that her privacy be honored and that she be able to remain private," Hurlbert said. Bryant's accuser is "doing OK," he said. "She's a strong girl. She's holding up pretty well, considering everything." The woman filed a complaint with the Eagle County Sheriff's Department on July 1, the day after the alleged attack, authorities said. At the time, Bryant was staying at the Lodge and Spa at Cordillera in Edwards, just west of the Vail ski resort. Bryant's accuser worked at the hotel's front desk. Bryant has helped lead the Lakers to three NBA championships in the seven years since he turned pro out of high school. His role model image has added to his popularity with fans, and fellow players have rallied to his defense. He is required to appear in court in Colorado on August 6 to hear the charge against him.
For the league's sake, I really hope Kobe didn't do this. Nothing like rallying behind someone only to have them proven guilty of rape.
All publicity is good publicity Book Deal, TV Shows, Civil Trail, etc. maybe she can play her self in the Movie of the week I'm not saying she did it or is doing this .. but she is not lacking for incentive too. Rocket River I don't think Kobe will lose this one but he has already Lost
How many high profile "crap cases" have there been? It's one thing to bring charges against some nobody off the street, but you better have some evidence against a high-profile, well-lawyered person.
Sportscenter had a segment on this. There have been a few of such cases, one involving Michael Irvin.
