MacBeth, it's a horribly overused cliche, and I apologize in advance, but sometimes they're true... Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. And we are seeing that happen here. It's frightening. We are allowing our liberties, paid for with the blood of our ancestors, to be tossed away like so many empty beer cans. The naivete of a large portion of the general public in the States (not just on this BBS) to what is happening, one bit at a time, to our rights as Americans, to our esteemed place among nations, to our relations with allies nurtured for over 50 years... all of those things and more... scares the hell out of me and a great many others. But "we" aren't in power. I hope the rest of America wakes up to what is going on in their own country.
Thanks, and I knew that. You just gave me an excuse to vent yet again. I'm deeply troubled. I believe more Americans are becoming that way as much of what's going on sinks in. At least I hope so. I just got back from a trip to Houston where there was a huge family gathering for my Mom's 80th birthday. Several of them are Republicans of long standing and they are deeply troubled as well. I was a little surprised, frankly.
Moore jokes about himself being assasinated all the time, and it's kind of funny, but in a way it's disturbing.. because I think the chances of some conservative nut job shooting him are pretty damned high.
