Perhaps about to be foiled in their bid to land Clippers free agent Corey Maggette, the Utah Jazz have turned to bigger things.

Utah has made a six-year offer to Indiana Pacers free-agent center Brad Miller, believed to be worth in the mid-$50 million range, the Rocky Mountain News reported Monday.

The newspaper cited a source close to the negotiations who spoke to Miller on Sunday as the basis of its report.

According to the News, the source said the Nuggets are willing to offer a six-year deal in the "mid-40s," and that Miller doesn't expect the Nuggets to improve their offer to match Utah.

"Brad likes Denver better than Utah, but I don't know if he likes it $12 million [less]," the source, referring to the difference between the offers, told the News.

When asked if the Nuggets would be willing to get in a bidding war with the Jazz, Denver general manager Kiki Vandeweghe told the News, "I'm not going to discuss that."

Miller's agent, Mark Bartelstein, declined to confirm Utah had made an offer, telling the newspaper only that he has received a "bunch of offers" for his client. Bartelstein said Miller, who also is being courted by Miami, Portland, New York and Dallas and still might re-sign with Indiana, figures on making his decision in the next "day or two."

On Friday, Jazz owner Larry Miller told the Rocky Mountain News that he anticipated having to pay Miller a first-year salary "in the vicinity of" $8 million or $9 million.

The Jazz need another big white center to go along with Bronchart and Ostertag. ;)

I like Miller though, 9 million/per is a lot of money but he is a solid center.
