No Rockets team in the history of the Franchise has reached 50 wins before March 29th, ever.

    We are 50-23

That said, the '94 team was 49-19 on March 29th, at less games, winning 58 games. So they are still king.

    Here are the stats:

1993 March 29th 44-25 won 11 in a row, and lost last two to be 55-27
1994 March 29th 49-19 won 9-5 to get 58 wins (Asterix, best winning % prior to 50 wins)
    1997 March 29th 48-23 won 9-2 to get 57 wins
    2008 March 29th 49-23 won 6-4 to get 55 wins

Quite a feat for a team with that many injuries throughout the year. Great job.

Didn't the season start a week or so later in the 90s?

Surprised that the Rockets have never had a 60-win season.

It's a trip. The guys are just hanging together, overcoming the injuries and piling up the wins. The chemistry has improved tremendously, in my opinion. All the new guys have bought in, and James has figured out how to use them. It's frequently beautiful to watch.

Look at the stats, only '94 had a better % at 50 wins

If we could have been remotely healthy this year, we could have broken 60 wins..

I'll be extremely happy with 56 or 57 wins, though.

Yeah, that one bugs the hell out of me too. If it makes you feel better, they could've won 60 in 1993-94. Their last 2 games were at the Mavs(who had a whopping 13 wins that season) and at home against the 42-40 Nuggets.

With the 2nd best record locked up and 1st place Seattle out of reach, Rudy rested a bunch of guys in those games. I was at the one against Denver and I think Dream did play, but a lot of bench and CBA guys were getting minutes. I remember Chris Jent went off that game and earned his way onto the playoff roster that day.

4th team to 50 wins. rockets are over-achieving. its not far fetched to expet them to win over 55 games.

Great job for the rockets despite the injuries. IMO, ALL players should work on their free throws come the playoffs. It's such a waste not scoring at the line. Free throw percentage is way too low

Nuggets did us a huge favor though later on by knocking out the Sonics.

Maybe we can lose to OKC in a couple of weeks and they can return the favor by knocking out the Warriors in the playoffs? I think we can compete and beat the Warriors in the playoffs but it would be nice to avoid them all together and avoid that drama. (Something tells me a Steph Curry Finals appearance may be a high priority issue this playoffs because a lot of people are going to bandwagon the Warriors as champions)

60 win season will happen... soon.;)

Remember when people said we'd struggle without Lin, Asik, and Parsons? Hahaha.

If you had posed the the question "quickest to 50 wins team" to me, I would have 100% said the 94 season when we won 58 without checking things. I did not realize that team ended on such a high note.

Unfortunately, I think we're more likely to finish with 55 wins this year. Way too many injuries and bad schedule coming up.

The ending schedule may look a bit hard, but we have a number of things going for us. First, many of those teams are on a downward trajectory, and the @OKC game is not nearly as daunting without a Durant to worry about. Second, we should have warm bodies returning to health in time for more than a few of these games. Third, those B2B Spurs games are something they should fear, not us. We match up well against them and have performed as such in the past couple years. Fourth, the last I was checking, we still have a player who is aiming to win the MVP down the final stretch.

My prediction: 6-3, with a final record of 56-26 and the second seed. Tonight is critical given how shorthanded we will be and how tough it has been for us to win in Toronto the past handful of years.
