Not sure if this is the right thread for the review... The show should really have a thread of its own. Bosch is AMAZING. Does it have breaking bad level twists and turns? Not entirely. Is it the most complex detective show of all time? No. But it brings a tone and level of acting and production to a serialized tv detective show I haven't seen. It's LA Confidential for tv. Which is great. If you like detective shows, good acting, great production, bing e watching g series, etc. you will love this show.
I thought Betas was pretty good, I liked the story better than Silicon Valley on HBO... however, I think Silicon Valley easily has the better cast and jokes. If I had to pick the best of the two, it would definitely be Silicon Valley. Red Oaks was probably my favorite of all of the pilots, can't wait for the full season - which was given the green light in October. As an aside, Mozart in the Jungle is a full season and worth a watch.
I'll have to give it a shot as well, as everything I've heard has been great. I'm in the middle of working my way through The Killing on Netflix, but I'll queue Bosch up next.
wow - i thought it was horrible. really wanted to like it too and stuck through the full season. thought the actor was bad - that they tried to hard to replicate the feel of the true detective series - I couldn't buy into the story and was confused on how he was more interested in a useless cold case the the mass murderer that should have been key.
