Either way the rockets win tonight, unless they lose. If the rockets lose, they should probably hope that the grizzlies win. If the rockets win then they should probably hope for a grizzlies loss.

Either way, the Rockets benefit(assuming they take care of Phoenix tonight). I'm leaning towards rooting for Memphis though. We need Portland to lose as many games as possible during this stretch they're currently in with 7 of 8 on the road(and the lone home game being against Golden State).
If I'm reading the standings right aren't 2 games up on them right now? With a win vs PHX and a Portland loss we would be 3 up. I would much rather be 3 games up on Portland giving us a bigger cushion for the 3rd seed.
We're only 1 1/2 up on Portland right now. And remember, we have to finish ahead of them in the standings since they have the tiebreaker.
46-22 vs 44-23 is 1.5 games. I usually focus on the loss column which puts them one behind Memphis and one up on Portland. I believe the Blazers are going to fade and maybe end up 6th behind the Clippers and Spurs. With T-Jones going down, the Rockets are in danger of sliding too. There is a breaking point.
i may be wrong, but i think the Blazers are locked into the 4th seed even if their record is 7th in the West.
Forgot about that, you are correct. Division winners are guaranteed #4 or higher. I want the Blazers to beat the Grizzlies. Rockets should target #2 and meet the Mavs in the 1st round. At #3, the opponent would be either the Spurs or Clippers.
Thats a dumb rule.. Southwest division is so hard, its not fair for the teams in the division. OKC still has time to catch up with other teams as they are only 6 games back from portland.
Although the Blazers are locked into 4th seed, if the 5th seed has a better record than them then they will not have home court.
