Picked up a Toshiba Chromebook 2 and am loving it. Anyone else replace their laptop with a chromebook?
i have a spare one I play around with. using it right now btw, this makes Chromebooks 100x more useful: https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/795730-how-to-easily-install-ubuntu-on-chromebook-with-crouton
may wanna get with miguel through the board. i had similar questions a year ago that he answered, but decided against it.
My sister has used one throughout highschool. Works great as an ultralight/facebook/youtube/google docs machine
We've had them for years. I take mine to the office to surf the net at lunch and for when I travel out of town. Also use it as a 2nd screen at home for watching non-Rockets NBA games. My son just replaced his older Chromebook with the HP 14" and he's very happy with it. Amon My main computer at home is an old HP laptop running Windows 7. With what I'm hearing about Windows 10, I might actually get another laptop with Windows instead of a higher end Chromebook when the HP dies. I had completely written off W8 as a replacement option.
Still using an early Toshiba hybrid ultrabook (lightweight but had an optical disk drive). Never used a chromebook but I'd always prefer a full PC. However, I'd prefer a chromebook over a tablet.
I dont own one but I work on them at work. I wouldn't count on this thing to replace a laptop if you plan on using a ton of stuff to do work on. Its just too stripped down IMO
Considering the only work and coding I have to do can be done simply by SSHing into school computers or into my desktop PC, the Chromebook does wonders for me. I can imagine if you need to do anything more, then a full-fledged laptop would probably be a better choice, but damn for $300 the value is definitely there for my Toshiba CB2. Unfortunately, I have somewhat rendered my iPad mini useless. I use my Note 4 for handheld tasks, now I use my Chromebook for what my iPad was used for.
I own the original Samsung chromebook and I just got a shiny new Toshiba Chromebook. Love it. 300 bucks and it rivals the macbook I had that cost me 3 times as much.
I have one but it's too damn limited for me and I hate google apps. There are so many cheap notebooks now, that I have a hard recommending it.
