It seems that Glen Rice is near the end of his respectable career and his expiring contract will garner alot of interest for those GM wanting to get a shot at Kobe and KG.

Would you keep Glen Rice here and let his contract expire so we can sign a decent player next year? Or should we package him?

As for Boki, I hope he breaks out this year.

    Heres the starting line up

    Francis
    Mobley
    Posey
    Griffin or MoT??
    Ming

Since Rice may be out of here, this is Boki's chance to show us what he has.

At the Grizzlies summer game, I heard that he exploded for 32 points (8-16, 14-15 from the FT).

I think Boki may average up to 20 min per game with Rice almost out of the picture.

I don't have very good expectations for Boki this year. I do think that we should ship Rice if at all possible for some talent. I would like to see Boki given a chance to show he belongs but I just don't have a lot of hope that he will pan out.

We will still be over the cap next year even if we keep Rice and let his contract expire.

Until Posey re-signs, Rice is still the best small forward on the team, so he will start and Boki will get rotation minutes. If Posey re-signs, and we keep Rice, I don't see Boki in the regular rotation based on his performance in the summer league, the last game not withstanding. If Boki is going to be a rotation player, he needs to show serious improvement in the preseason.

Not sure what I "expect" but I will tell you what I "hope" will happen.

I hope Nachbar becomes a decent SF off the bench. Someone that can come in and provide an offensive spark to the team. Perhaps in the beginning someone that can average 8-10 points a night off the bench. I think that would be great.

As for Rice, I don't see any real reason to let his expiring contract expire here in Houston unless this team really wants to let it expire here because of Luxary Tax concerns.

Rice has value now with his 9 million dollar slot expiring after this season. Lots of teams would love that much money available to them under the cap.

The Rockets will be over the cap for many years down the road and the only way they can improve their team would be in trades.

Well if we lose Posey its gonna be a great loss. So i see the rockets trying to do something only if we lose him, if they dont do anything at all in the next month or two. I know they will try to sign 1 or 2 free agents so expect that to happen but nobody real great. If they sign Newble than he might replace Posey.

Ira Newble a replacement for Posey if we cant get Posey back. Charlie Ward might sign the vets. I think we could also pick up Bo Outlaw while were at it and Move Cato and Griffin in a trade. Who can we get, i dont know.......

It completely boggles my mind with all of the Boki hoopla. Don't you people think that if Boki was really able to contribute, Rudy would have played him? Rudy may bring players along slowly, but if Boki would have been ready and able to contribute, I completely believe that Rudy would have let him.

That being said, I hope the dude breaks out next season like nobody's business.

I dont know if it's nerves or what but during practices and warmups Bokie lights it up, but when he has some minutes to show what he has in an actual game he totally blows it.

After reading DD's reports of the summer league,I have a different image of his role off the bench.
I see him being more of a "do it at" kind of guy.He can bring the ball up the court,he can defend,he can rebond...
Now I'm not saying he's going to be th man next year, but I just think that he can bring more to the table than offense off the bench(actually I don't know if he can bring ANY offense off the bench!)
I say we trade Rice for a compitent guard(PG or SG) and let Cat be the 2nd unit's offensif plug!
