    Nuggets: Nene drops Hilario

    News
Nene Hilario had an interesting trip to his native Brazil. He went down there as Nene Hilario, but came back without his last name. He told the Rocky Mountain News the name change is official. "Nene's my only name," he said.

How cool is that? Congrats to Nene for being the only NBA player with a one-word name. There is no truth to the rumor that Carmelo Anthony has legally changed his name to Melo.

    Too much.

Also saw in news Martin wants the Max. Good luck with that, K-Mart. I think you need a more upscale name. Like Nene.

Not uncommon in Brazil, where most soccer stars go by one name. Ala Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, etc...

That's nuts. I thought Nene was just a nickname.

nene WAS just his nickname right? So he took his nickname and made it his only name? I can't imagine anyone naming their kid "nene"...even brazillians.

Maybe that's why the stores in Denver were selling the new nuggets jerseys with Nene on the back. Looks nice.

His real name is Mabyner Hilario, iirc.

Nene is pretty cool. I wonder if the back of his jersey will now just say "Nene".

Yeah, I wonder about that as well! Remember when the NBA made a big deal about the Rockets NOT being able to put Yao Ming on the back of his jersey? Wonder what they say with "Nene"

BTW, in his native language "Nene" is translated into "baby"

Nene sounds like a nickname for a body part.

"I just got kicked in the nenes"
